We did another training session this evening. Focus was correct radio procedures on the ground as well as in the air, and basic 2-ship formation maneuvers: cross turns, delayed turns, in place turns, etc... We finished the session with an 8-ship formation landing. I wouldn't call it 100% perfect, but we got all aircraft down within 70-80 seconds. With no one exploding, which is always an unexpected bonus when the Ugly flight takes to the air.
Hawg flight taking off
En route to IP, each flight was assigned a "box" where to perform their maneuvers
Close formation, shortly after taking that pic we changed to spread formation with 1 NM distance
Cross turn
Contrails of another flight performing a 90° delayed turn
Pig and Hawg flights formed up for the formation landing
There's dozens of them!!!
Ok, not the tidiest formation I've ever seen but we usually are already happy when we find each other without someone losing a vital part of his aircraft or smashing into
terra firma while trying to track a wingman
Break for final
Touchdown!
No casualties, everyone learned something and we all had a great time, despite some minor problems with the radios using ARIES (which is absolutely awesome BTW).
