In your opinion, whats the best, healthiest, vitamin-rich, protein laden, fibrous cereal you can chow down on for breakfast?

I guess this might be pretty country specific and Im going to go with a Canadian favorite called Vector! (for now)

Any challengers?

Here are some numbers for you number crunchers out there. smile

There is another theory which states that this has already happened.

Ice Cold in Alex or Eating in ...
My favourite is still Shredded Wheat, alas you cannot get it here in Belgium

This is what I grew up with as a kid, later it was taken over by Nestl

As I can't get Shredded Wheat I eat Weetabix, even that is hard to get as it is only stocked by one shop in the town, and not the normal shop that I go to for groceries. Most breakfast cereals here contain chocolate

When I was a child in the 50's, anything with a plastic novelty inside was nutritious enough for me!
Especially the spring loaded rocket launchers found in Shreddies.
Anybody remember the excitement when your mum came back from the shops? Grabbing the box, ripping it open and scrabbling around in the cereal with probably grubby fingers to locate the treasure!

Heck, I remember doing that in the late 70's as a young child. I think the toys inside the cereal boxes thing died out in the early 90's. At least in the US.

I'm a breakfast snob, I can't start my day with cold cereal anymore. But when I did it was plain Shredded Wheat (as pictured above) or plain Cheerios with sliced Strawberries or Blueberries on top, with skim milk.

Closest I come today is cooking old-fashion Quaker Oats while adding cinnamon, raisins, honey, chopped walnuts and wheat germ (wife adds flaxseed oil).

I've tried skim milk a couple of times but I just cant stand it. It tastes the same as water to me.

I'm pretty boring when it comes to breakfast. Cheerios or Multi-Grain Cheerios. Shredded Wheat or Oatmeal.

I can't stand skim milk. My folks were farmers who always had a milk cow or two. IMO if the milk does not 'stick to the side of the glass" when you drink it....it's not real milk. I often pour blend cream or coffee cream ( half & half with homogenized milk) on my cereal if we have any smile

that's what I have at work, 1% milk and Lucky Charms... I've tried the healthy cereal and it's twice the price and almost as much sugar. I used to love Quaker 100% Natural, can't seem to find it anymore.

I'll drink 2% milk but that's the lowest fat level I'll go!

Cutting out the milk and bread seems to be making a difference, also no more "cheese food" or "cheese product", just the real stuff. I still use half & half in my coffee though, a couple of cups a day.

I just looked in the frige and it's 2%, I guess we don't do skim anymore. I never noticed.

Nothing in this thread is making me hungry, but it did remind me I haven't eaten breakfast yet.

I whipped this up quick...

Two juicy yoked fried eggs on avocado and spinach, with local hen laid eggs and OJ not from concentrate.

Just 18 months ago I had fallen hard...

That started with a bad breakfast.

Ain't nobody got time for that! I'm up and within 30 minutes I'm out the door to work.

It's not elaborate, you're just cooking one thing (and usually while the coffee is brewing).

But when I'm in a rush I'll eat a banana and a handful of almonds together, the mix makes it really good.
