I was more interested in this:

With the gradual transition to the new Dagor Engine 4.0, update 1.53 will introduce significant changes to the visibility mechanics relating to ground forces and aircraft battles. Because of the improved capabilities the Dagor Engine 4.0, bushes and trees will now show in ground force battles at the same distances in all graphical settings (up to and including High quality settings).

The maximum drawing distance for trees has a far lesser effect in the new update, as the detection distance is now more closely related to crew skills and activity. But nonetheless, in 1.53, thanks to the improved abilities of Dagor Engine 4.0, both bushes and trees are now drawn when seen from the ground vehicle at the same distances in all regimes and all settings (up to and including High settings). At the same time, fog thickness remains slightly higher in Ultra Low Quality.

The increased tree visibility distance can still have a small effect on performance in certain configurations, but the effect should not be significant in most cases except for a general improvement in quality and detalization thanks to optimizations performed on Ultra Low Quality mode.

Hopefully that means an end to being able to snipe enemy tanks from across the battlefield even when they are hidden in bushes or hedges, because the bushes don't render at large distances.

Also an end to cheats playing with low graphic settings which eliminate all bushes and grass.

ie: you can buy yourself an earlier enemy-vehicle-render-in point... via spending on crew training. I find that a bit questionable...

well to be fair what do they do that isn't at least a little bit questionable though, at least they're consistent. biggrin
