I was jogging yesterday in my neighborhood and this father and his son were out with one of these.

http://hendohover.com/

His son who was about 7 was on it but it didn't look like he could move too quick and too far or have much control of it over which way it would go or changing directions.

It was more akin to a person trying ice skating for the first time and spending most of the time trying to stand upright on it and not falling over.

I watched him for about 10 min and the most I've seen him move on it was maybe 10 feet.

I looked for videos of it on the net but you know those videos.

It's like the burgers in the fast food commercials. They spent hours and hours to make them look pretty and taking multiple video shots of them.

The most I've seen in some of these videos is a few seconds at a time showing someone moving on it or spinning in 360 on it and I wonder how many shots did it take for them to get those few seconds on video.

Then there are some videos posted by people who actually bought it and those videos are so annoying.

One of the biggest pet peeve I have about people who buy a product and post a video on YouTube on it is they spend too much time talking, most of the time giving out useless information like "as you can see it came in a pretty box with styrofoam", and not spending enough time showing how the product works.

EDIT:

I don't know how much it costs but it just looks it doesn't do much for the $ even if it's only $100.

Nope, won`t buy into the hype. If I can`t feel any friction its worthless to
a long time skateboarder. Just moving on a hoverboard requires one directive
force. Try turn, good luck.

CG, I do not know what you saw, but unless the pavement in your neighborhood has been replaced by a metallic hover surface, these would not work.

They require a special surface to hover.

The kid was trying to make it work on the sidewalk which is just regular cement pavement.

As I've said, the farthest I've seen him go was 10 feet.

Also the bottom of the hoverboard seemed to be touching the pavement most of the time and not hovering over it.

Where's Marty McFly and his Mattel Hoverboard?

It's 2015.

I want self drying jacket, self lacing shoes, and dehydrated Pizza Hut pizzas.

Well it might be getting the iron rebar in the concrete of the sidewalk to run a magnetic current, but since it's in a grid would give the inconsistencies seen.

Once again that damned Newton is messing things up with the notion of turning a frictionless object that is in motion.

The opinions of this poster are largely based on facts and portray a possible version of the actual events.

Newton didn't know what he was talking about.

He was hallucinating from being hit in the noggin by an apple.
