Am very bloody angry at the moment

My X52 Pro - which is less that two months old, has already started playing up

I had a Saitek Extreme 3D pro for 5 years before it started malfunctioning
And let's remember that is a budget Stick

I really expected more from the X52 considering it cost me £140
V peed off mad

The issue is it has started to 'stick'
The joystick now resists small movements
Trying to make gentle adjustments (which as we all know is key on WOFF) - the joystick resists
Then gives way and moves more that I want
I cannot fly or aim with it any more

And I have an entirely free weekend ahead of me - was so looking forward to a few days of serious flying sigh

A quick search online reveals I am not the only one with this problem

Looks like I will have to order some trombone slide grease from Amazon

God knows how long that will take to arrive

I bet you could find trombone grease in a local music store or I bet you could first try petroleum jelly and see if that works.

After more reading I have found recommendations for

Ballistol oil
Trombone Grease
Silicon Grease
Furniture Polish
Candlewax
Electrical contact cleaner
Electric clipper grease

Don't know which one to choose
Don't want to FUBAR my new £140 stick

Think I will do some more reading

Ay up yourself Adger - don't think I've met you yet

Trouble is as I ordered it online - I can expect that route to take weeks to resolve itself

I now love this sim too much to lose that much flying time

'Preciate your input though

By the way - love your Sig - so true of me winkngrin

Haha good to meet you pal, have you got an old stick that you could use in the meantime mate?.I know it can be a pain at times but most online suppliers ive dealt with have been spot on regarding any refunds Etc.

Yep been flying with OBD products since OFF P2,then WOFF,s predecessor OFF P3 with the expansion HITR,and now the wonderful WOFF..pretty good sim innit pal.And to think i stumbled on OBD,s products by accident, picked up OFF P2 and with that i was hooked.Anyways hope you get your stick working soon and welcome to the most helpful, friendliest forum on the Net,safe flying pal and whatever you do keep watching that six

I guess you are sure that you haven't messed with the "nullzone" data?
(You could fly WOFF with this stick, and now suddenly it won't work correct?)

I tried that messing with the advanced settings Olham doesn't make it any better I am afraid
The problem is a physical one
Seems like the ball at the base of the joystick is sticking on something
Or maybe the spring underneath the stick is sticking

I can actually feel it resisting whenever I try to make small movements on the stick

This is a physical problem with the actual product

But thanks for your suggestions Olham, all input is appreciated winkngrin

Hmm - not sure to be honest with you
It dealt with problems wit the throttle unit - my issue is with the joystick

I think I will have to go to Maplin (for non UK residents Maplin is a electronics specialist store)

Pick up a specialist screwdriver set and maybe some silicone grease

Take it apart and hope to God I don't FUBAR it in the process

My track record in this is not good - the last time I opened up an electronic device - I killed a PC rolleyes

Thanks for your suggestion MudWasp

Wish me luck smile2

OK - now I am really scared

Seems I have the following options

Ballistol oil
Trombone Grease
Silicon Grease
Furniture Polish
Candlewax
Electrical contact cleaner
Electric clipper grease

OR

Taking the whole thing apart and replacing the magnets

I don't like any of these choices

sigh

Hmmmm... just my opinion..I'd take it apart and clean with electrical contact cleaner and either silicone grease or some lubricant ok for electronics.

Keep a small container handy for parts
Compressed air would be nice for cleaning too.

Max, if you have some spare money, get yourself one of these.

THRUSTMASTER T.16000M

The scanning is done via laser, and the matrix is the same res. as in the expensive HOTAS Cougar.
So the resolution (sensitivity) is much higher than in any other stick in that price range.
The stick can easily be converted from right- to lefthand use.

The stick costs ca. 49 Euro = 36 British pounds = 56 US dollars

This.

If you have little experience with taking things apart then I would not risk voiding your warranty... you only bought it a couple of months ago no?

That does look like a very nice stick Olham - but seeing as I have just bought the X52 Pro I really want to get it working again
Thanks for the suggestion though

A bit more research has turned up a few things
Looks like it might just be a little bit of dirt in the joystick housing
Am going to get some compressed air from Maplin this afternoon and give it a bit of a squirt

Might work smile2

That is a solid, easy, inexpensive fix. Maybe a squirt of silicon spray too?
Hope it Works!

GOOD LUCK
