Hey, Carrick, for first or early steps, this is a cool design IMHO.
It took me a looong time to find out about all the secrets and tricks of making skins.
Literally years. And I still find some.

Yeah, that's cool, Carrick. Might have worked in Reality, also: Because of the different Square-Sizes, the Fokker appears bigger than it is for a Pursuer. Anything, that "helps" the Enemy to misjudge his Aiming-Point is good...

@ Manitou: I remember, you had a special Fokker E4... Black/Purple, half way patterned.
@ Lou: The Alb / Dr1 Design in your Collection... have you got a D7 in that Design, too? That would complete a Timeline.

Nietzche, I might have time to work on a DVII to complete the timeline for that design, I'll see what this weekend has to offer. I wanted to compliment you on the collection you are submitting - very nice work and some fun skins to fly in.

carrick, I agree about your offering, it has an interesting pattern that seems to throw off the size of the plane and therefore its perceived distance away.

Keep 'em coming folks, this should prove to be quite the skin pack when it is all pulled together. Thanks again Rick for taking on this project.

Thanks guys, Coming from U true Professionals, I do appreciate the kind words. I need to work on Gimp 2 controls so all of it works , straight lines and painting, and of course Patrice makes perfect.

Sheesh......the skies are certainly going to be more colorful! Be great if an installer could assign new skins to a whole squad at random assuming they're available for that model plane from this pack. Nice work gentlemen!!!

Gaw, that's a great Idea!

Here is the DH5. This widens the "Tiger-Dragon"-Theme, so a Pilot can now move through a bigger Time-Space (or was it Space-Time? LOL) with the same Look.

How Do You Turn 25 Skins Into 38 Skins or How Rick Rawlings Is About To Lose His Mind!!!

Hm, so I was going through Lou's paint submissions and copying them and renaming the copies because the SE5 uses the same skin as the SE5a and the SE5a-viper. So after I got done doing that, I copied and renamed all the N11s to N16 and vice versa. Then, I renamed all the N23 Lewises to N17 Lewises and, of course, to N17 as well. Then I made sure all the N17s were also N17 Lewises and N23 Lewises. After that I made sure that I copied and renamed all the N17 Lewises to N17 and N23 Lewises. After that, I did NOT copy and rename the N23 Lewises to N24s...because that would be silly.

After that, I needed a drink... wacky

So, with everyone's permission and to keep file sizes down, I would propose that we just list the compatible files and demonstrate how to rename them and leave that up to the end-user as it occurs.

Thoughts?

I say do whatever makes this project easier for you Rick. Having the user rename the files for their own use in the sim should not be an issue as long as the naming guidelines are included with the skin pack.

All that renaming gives you a taste of the pain of making this thing Rick !

We all make mistakes but you can see how easily it is done looking through thousands of files when your eyes go wacky

Rick thank you for the effort you are putting into this project - it will be a great help for those members who may not have the skills or time to skin their own crates. It still amazes me after all this time, just how good this community is,- in helping, advising new mwmbers, and the many extended hands of friendship that have been made. Keep up the good work salute

So if you haven't poked around too much in the skins folder, this is what we are talking about:

You will notice that the N17 and N23 parts overlay each other perfectly. You can simply rename your N17 as an N23 and the game will pick it up and display it fine giving you two paint schemes for the price of one. Once you get to the N24, however, the fun is over, as the location and size of the components is different. My guess is that when these aircraft were added in at a later time, the developers learned from previous experience where they needed more real estate to get better results and adjusted accordingly. The good news is that there are many cases where this applies, and several near misses like the two SPADs. We'll try to get a good list up when the pack goes out...
