However - this one is a definite keeper IMHO - beau-ti-ful!

Your 4th and 5th Strutter images from the last page laso, Deacon - marvellous!

Okay, you know that:

You are peacefully cruising around, thinking of nothing specific...

...when suddenly: BAM! FIRE! ...you turn off Ignition, and see this:

...but I never had a major Engine Failure so far, that actually caused 3 Cylinders to popp off!

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. But in practice, there is.

Well, I don't want to spam Rick, but if you like that Design, I could do a Pup. That would complete the Series (DH5, Pup, Camel, SE5a)

That probably would look pretty cool on a pup. You are incredibly talented Mr. Nietzsche. Kudos to you.

I need to learn how to skin. A red devil holding a pitch fork on my pup! biggrin

Alas, poor Thomes Shivers (victim at birth of a misspelling of Thomas on his birth certificate) fell victim to his own success and immediately after having sent his second German plunging to the earth, dove too steeply to observe his victim and tore off a wing at 8000 feet, giving him plenty of time to regret his rash decision before augering in.

Yeah, the pup's speed much be watched. If it's any consolation, you're not the first or last to die that way.

RIP Thomes salute

All that in a DH-2? You bloody well do deserve it!

Well, Billy Bishop had an ignominious end. After surviving that hair raising last flight in the Strutter, he flipped onto his nose on the first takeoff roll in the Camel. duh

It was the first time I had tried the real world technique of getting the tail skid off the ground as quickly as possible, but just didn't expect the pitch over rate in the Camel. And once I started, there was no stopping it.

Enter Charlie Cooper, RNAS.

Have gotten three kills so far in the Strutter in about 6 hours. Put in the transfer request a few days ago but it is taking forever!

Got jumped by these clowns off Nieuport. Aborted the mission, but took this one down with me. Let my observer get back at him a little after the Hun tried to crease both our craniums!

A few missions later, I was flying south over Ypres and witnessed the mother of all artillery barrages! The pics don't do it justice.

@Deacon:
I know, what you were thinking, when you flew over that... it is hard to describe. Especially, when this non-stop-terror goes on for several Missions...

Gorgeous Aris!

Cooper's Camel career has been off to a slow start. A couple of promising opportunities, but either my wingies jumped in with some over my shoulder shots that would have probably gotten them a bare knuckle sammich back in 1917 or a clean kill with no witnesses that got denied.

Still, doing my bit for King and country and all that!
