I turned on the game to play in the DiD campaign. When the screen opened, The a/c a flight of 3 were in the air. Suddenly they dropped crashing to the ground. All this before I could do anything. Going to the next screen, it read I survived the Crash ( wont fly again till the 13th of Oct.) What happened ? Under normal circumstances, the a/c are spotted on the ground not in the air. ( Virtual ) although the engines in both examples were Off. screwy

On very rare Occasions (not more than 1 per 1k, I guess), the Crafts spawn @ an incorrect Height. They can even spawn below Ground...
On the other Hand:
Spawning a tiny bit off does indeed happen quite frequently. Maybe you already experienced a little Bump, before you turned on your Engine...

Yes I have had two below ground spawns over the years.
One killed almost my whole squadron yet I was only shaken up.
Luckily I back up my pilots folder fairly often!

Spawning below ground ? I havnt had that happen yet,but I have experienced a little bump at the begining. I must say, If the spawning was below ground, it would make for a ruff takeoff. popcorn

I have had one start of mission where I could not see any aircraft at all on the airfield
Cloud hear all of us though

Once I quit the mission I was told all of us except me were dead

Seems to be one of those random glitches

Authority should derive from the consent of the governed, not from the threat of force

If the only tool you have is a hammer, pretty soon everything starts to look like a nail

That's why it pays to always use Robert's backup utility! thumbsup

I'm lazy.
I've simply checked "Pilot never dies". When something like that happens, I simply ignore it and carry on.

Nietsche;

With the latest version of the backup utility, you can be lazy, as it allows you to launch directly into WOFF following the backup. In this way you never have to Launch WOFF from the WOFF desktop icon.
