Hard to know where to post stuff about this game, since I don't think most of us check the armor sim forum, so I'll put this here until we get that figured out.

I don't have enough time in WT or WoT to really say. You don't have the repair on the field like WT. The armor and ammo are very specialized. You develop a commander that goes in anything you take, but each tank develops it's own crew. As usual, you unlock units with XP, then purchase. You can customize in a wide variety of ways, best to look to youtube for that. Also, it has PvE. The first easy missions are basically tutorial. Then it steps up to more complex and longer missions. Play as a private group, or with the public.
I only have a little time in WT. While I prefer the ww2 setting, AW was a lot of fun. The main difference I can think of is you have less insight in AW into the type of damage you have done. In WT, it would give you some graphical data on your impact result (not very realistic but helpful). The text in AW is too small for me to tell if my shots have found the sweet spot or not.
It is an arcadey FTP armor game that attempts to incorporate items such as penetration, armor facing, and ammo types into the gameplay. It is NOT steel beasts but its still a great little game. The best part is it's FTP, so you are only out the download time.

I set up a battalion:
Crimson Guard {CG}
Check out your base tab. You get raw materials every day to build it up. They can increase your XP, cash, lower costs etc. Let me know who all to send invites to. I'm not sure if you can search for it and join or not. I think it should give us more goals for earning XP/cash.
I really liked it, playing as Recon. I found that if I hold down "e" while spotting an enemy, a countdown time will start and my guy will "call in fire". Any damage done to the enemy while spotted in this way gets credited to me as "spot damage". Perhaps it's all my time playing long range dakka in MWO, but gunnery was a hoot, and the game rewards good tactics. It also is very punishing of bad tactics.
The number and variety of maps is already impressive, as is the destructibility of many items. For instance, you can knock a tree down in the direction of your choice, and then use the fallen tree as concealment.
I also liked the progression system. The XP points you use to upgrade your vehicle are the same that count toward progressing to the next vehicle, so you must choose between saving for the next tier, or upgrading the vehicle in hand. Speaking of upgrades, the crew and retrofitting system allow for some tailoring to your play style and vehicle type.
Having played Combat Mission Black Sea and Flashpoint campaigns (which aim to model armor battles in a realistic way), the sudden, decisive nature of the combat in this game actually feels reasonably correct, and I appreciate that the matches are generally short, but with a fair amount of tactical decision making compressed into that time.
Having said that, my opinion was not unanimous among the player who joined last night, so your mileage may vary.
I will probably be back on tonight, working on leveling my recon vehicles.
Mini-map. It displays critical battlefield information such as the position of allies and spotted enemies, view range and gun orientation (represented by white circle and line) and other helpful markers. Holding down CTRL key and clicking on a particular square will highlight it on the mini-map which can be seen by your allies. This is useful if you want to call attention on particular points.
and
Penetration indicator and sight. This is your aiming reticle where the shell will hit depending on the tanks accuracy. If the indicator turns green, it means there’s a high chance of penetration if you shoot on that area and a high chance of bounce if red. A useful tool to determine tanks weak points.
So for example the XM800T has a rough view range of 500m and the Leopard 1 has a camo of 0.10. So the Leopard would be spotted by the XM800 at 450m in open terrain.
well, I know this wasn't a hit with most of you, but I've really been enjoying it. The symbiotic relationship between recon and armor is well represented IMO. I've even grown to like the dang swingfire, looking forward to the Fox. Anywhoo...

I played a fair bit over the weekend and I like it a lot. Got my artillery piece. It's fun, but damage is slow and hard to come by so it isn't a money maker. Positioning is of course important, but it would be good to have someone dedicated to spotting. Also ran some recon and enjoyed it. I may pursue that some. I want to try out the missiles.
I have been playing dedicated recon to the point that I often get the medal for most spots in a match. Good XP payouts for such things. The Swingfire was very tough for me at first, but it forced me to understand stealth and detection in the game and has made my recon game even better. You get two shots, and then it's a lengthy reload, so ambush tactics are a must. It is fun to guide in a shot from long distance and have it hit the soft spot you lase. Had a couple tanks explode outright from hits to the cupola hatch. Have not yet tried tanks, but having a pretty good time with the BMP, as well, really working toward the BMP-2 and that 30mm autocannon. I plan to be on throughout the week, so hit me up.
