Thanks, Robert - it will hopefully all come back to me, once I try.

Robert: When I used to watch my AI mates come in, I'd have my finger on the pause button in case I noticed one was about to careen into me.

Now I take is as a point of pride to sidle up to the nearest hangar (and if it's open actually drive inside of it)

Yes, CatKnight, That's pretty much my approach now except I stay outside of the hangar so I can watch my mates land.

Robert, it has happened to me once. It would have happened more but I watch for them now. I cannot remember what book but the author, a WWI pilot was about to touch down when he looked up and was staring at the undercarriage of his mate about 3' above his wings!

The Jasta put up 6 a/c for Airfield Patrol. One D-II dropped out early with engine problems. The rest of us continued with Patrol. Spotted dots but to far to chase so finished the assignment.

Hello, alltogether!

Mr Rawlings, a new challenge, what a pleasure! Although somewhat tight in time for next two weeks, I would like to participate, if it´s not too late to join in... I never survived too long in the last challenges, so maybe this fits quite nicely.

Nice bunch of people here again, looking forward for the next weeks! Welcome back, Herr Olham!

Kaische

Edit: My pilot´s name is Paul Viktor Nemjetzkij. Good luck to all of you!

I really don't know why I spend the time typing in my pilot's info and making a skin for him; ON Sam Colerhedge's first mission, the flight encountered some Pups, and Sam got after one, but then lost him, and in fact lost everyone, but another squad of Pups found him, and 3 of them stuck on his tail, and then he got into some irrecoverable spin, and then he hit the ground. Nice playing with you all.

Thanks Robert! I don't think anyone has topped Lou from the first challenge, though! LowDrag, welcome aboard, be sure to fill out the survey in the first post as you progress!
loftyc, oh no! Run a second "for fun" pilot if you want and just report on him!

Nice writing, Rick
Sorry to hear that loftyc
Olham, glad your flying
Robert, I had one squadmate roll up on me as i was sitting in front of a tent. He would have crashed into me had I not exited the mission.

In a different campaign I landed a plane and noticed what appeared to be a bomb crater ahead, rolled into it and heavily damaged my plane. Never knew they did that Maybe it was a wrecked plane? but it looked round and I saw no plane parts so i think it was a bomb crater.

Rudolf's first mission consisted of escorting DFWs on a recce run. He and another DII trailed the DIIIs until they met up with the DFWs and then had no issues until the second trip back into German territory when SPADs attacked from 10 o'clock low. Jasta 12 handled them well, Rudolf blew the wings off one and was thinking the DF was about over when bullets hit his plane...NUPES!

He dove as fast as he could and landed at a friendly airbase.

Flew my first two missions today didn't soil myself or shoot down any comrades, so I would say I performed well. We did mix it up with some Nieuports during the morning sortie. I was too busy avoiding the swirling aeroplanes to focus too intently on the enemy. I think I might have hit a Tommie, but I couldn't be sure. Next thing I know the Nieuports are diving for home and the skies are clear. We turn for home and once we landed someone noticed that Offv Edgar Kock was missing. Turns out in the hectic melee he must have been hit because after lunch we received noticed that some infantry had located his body. I didn't know the man since I had only just met him yesterday, but he could play the piano very well and we will miss that. I wonder if he will be just the first of many to move on west.

Afternoon sortie was a dud, flew our assigned patrol and returned home without seeing any enemy aeroplanes.

Ha! I'm sure I'll burn out soon enough! Everyone make sure you time advance so you are only flying one mission per campaign day!
