Since I became a "veteran."
Working bounty in a HRES and saw a Imperial Clipper with a 78,000 bounty.
Feeling a little cocky at this point after taking down some dangerous Cobra's so I attack.
Forgot to check the armament of my foe and was surprised, after I was being so clever in staying on his tail in my DBS, to see him shooting, and shooting well, straight back behind him.
Turrented or gimballed weapons I guess!
Kept trying but finally I had to run away badly damaged.
Another lesson learned.

I thought you were going to tell us you got blown to pieces. I actually read this thread in anticipation of just that.

So disappointed smile

Clippers can often be dangerous, their shields aren't very strong for their size but they are fast and manoeuvrable, especially with those Class 3 beam laser turrets on the wingtips. Strip your shields down before you realise what's happening.
One of the reasons why the Clipper is my favourite ship*, good cargo hold too, 200+ tons depending on outfitting.

*Well, equal favourite with the Courier that is. I wonder what the Imperial Cutter will be like, an Imperial pocket-battleship? Sounds like fun! http://elite-dangerous.wikia.com/wiki/Imperial_Cutter

This is Bobby Rahal, thanks for playing the trial version of Microsoft's CART Precision Racing

I remember once being out mining in my lightly shielded Type-6, and amidst the silence was suddenly scanned. Turned to see if it was the local security, and no... It was a wanted Clipper! I bugged out pronto!

If I were to pick a "next ship" it would definitely be a Clipper, but I am not interested right now in doing the combat missions to build the required rank. Maybe later. So my next ship will likely be a Python.

Well if it makes you feel any better my hull strength was down to 8% and I had 25 minutes to get somewhere as my canopy was breached.
Luckily the improved LS was my last upgrade!

It was close alright.
Don't know how much my successful escape can be attributed to luck or skill or the AI.
He was pursuing so I was boosting away, dropped a heat sink, and fled thru the asteroid field trying to keep big rocks between me and him.
