I have created a self extracting JSGME mod with tailored flight models for specific aircraft to improve their side slip, slip turn capability and to dampen down the force feedback for those who have a force feedback stick.

Details of what this mod contains is available in the "ReadMe" file included within the zip'd package.

You can download this mod from the official WOFF web site under the "User Mods" section.

You will find the link and more details identified in the forum under the "Wings: Over Flanders Fields Mods" section.

Best Regards

Folks;

I forgot to ask a question that is close to my heart. I use the Microsoft Force Feedback joystick. WOFF has the feedback modelled into it's Flight Models.

Would anyone who uses a true force feedback stick pleased identify it in this thread. I would like to get my head around how many of us are out there. I suspect is is only a very few.

Best Regards

Glad you asked that Question, Robert - I always forget that...
Would you recommend buying a Stick with FF? Is it Fun or is it getting pesky after a few Minutes?
I'm flying with a very cheap and simple Thrustmaster. It works fine, but don't weigh my Opinion too heavily... the last Joystick I used before that was named Competition Pro...

Personally love the FFB it is a good warning when reaching stall speed and tangible feedback of simulated G's in a turn. The only part I don't like is the vibration on landing, but I have learned how to stop that feedback by judicial hand placement on the stick when landing. I don't know what I would do for a replacement if it ever fails as there is no comparable stick out there for the price.

Thanks for identifying. It will be very interesting to see just how many of us use FFB sticks

Hello Robert, I use the FFB2 and have one spare. It is a great piece of kit.

Thank you also for this mod, have only flown the Sopwith camel as of yet and feel a difference.

Kind regards
Danny

I browsed some of the usual Pages, where one can buy these Things... and the new Version of this MFFB seems to have a Motion-Tracker? Why does a Joystick need a Motion-Tracker these Days? (It surely does not replace the TrackIR)
I'm asking, because I don't know, if I should buy the "old" Version or this Tracking...Thing...Stick... mycomputer

Do you have a link for that?
I thought microsoft quit making them years ago.

Nietzsche, I never heard of this "Motion Tracking" feature on any of the original production models. the MFFB2 stick was the last version made. If you send me a link to where you saw this info I will check it out. It may just be a term being used that relates to the feedback effect as there is no visual tracking aid of motion equivalent to TrackIR on the products.

Yes it's as I suspected. The following phrase which I extracted from Amazon is referring to the sensor in the joystick handle which determines your hand placement and motions applicable to the position of the joystick and nothing to do with onscreen imaging.:

"Built-in digital-optical "camera" reads your exact position"

It's also worth noting that this is the first generation of force feedback called the "Sidewinder". What you should be looking for is the "Force Feedback 2" joystick, the second generation and final one as it is much superior.

Robert:

I wanted you to know I downloaded your mod and just had an incredibly enjoyable melee between an Albatros and a Pup. The improvement in both crafts' performance was obvious as we chased each other up and down the front.

I'm still using your mod. I've mostly been flying Albs lately (for obvious reasons) and I love how the D.III handles now.

Tnx Catknight. You are the only one to respond so I'm thinking few people are using it.

A little clarification please - when I first saw this I assumed that it was only for those who use force feed joysticks. However, the modifications to side slip and slip turn capabilities affect even "regular" (non-force feed) joysticks, correct?
