No DLC included, but if you vote the Golden Joystick awards you get a coupon to buy Bioshock-Infinite for 1 Euro.

I did it. It works and the game is as cool as it can be.

It was free for xbox live a few months ago. I really enjoyed it. (But I am a poor judge of FPS games.)

Anyone know if Bioshock Infinite is the end of the line for the Bioshock franchise?

Irrational folded after the last DLC came out, so practically speaking yes.

However, Bioshock 2 wasn't made by them so 2K could always hand the keys to someone else. Who knows whether we'd get Deus Ex Human Revolution or Deus Ex Invisible War.

I wonder what exactly caused them to close up shop? Everything that I've read concerning the commercial reception for Bioshock: Infinite was positive. It sold well for both PC and console.

Ken Levine shut it down. Really odd, actually.

Levine wants to make different games, smaller company.

"Im handing the reins of our creation, the BioShock universe, to 2K"

So it's up to 2k to do another Bioshock.

Not that it matters to me, watched the game play vids when it came out, not my type of game anymore.

The setting for Bioshock:Infinite was quite different for sure but I found the gameplay itself to be pretty much the same as the previous games.

I've noticed many people don't seem to want to play FPS games anymore. Or RTS games. Or flight sims. Or racing sims. Or strategy games. Or action games.

In fact, I've noticed a lot of people don't want to play most games anymore.

Still play games, just didn't like the last Bioshock. Maybe the guy doing the play through sucked. Though I saw that rail travel and went eh...

The first game was really good. Original setting you couldn't stop marveling at throughout the game, a great story, brilliant characters, retro style, really creepy without quite being horror.
The second one tried to repeat it, bringing in another story that didn't seem to fit, so I didn't stay engaged and quit. The third was just kind of dull, brightly lit, not creepy at all to the point that I got to. I got bored and quit.
Sometimes 1 game/movie is enough.

Infinite was creepy below the surface (to belabor a pun) even though it was bright and sunny. It was a facade that doesn't break down until you start the game, but the environment can't reflect that when you're above the clouds. smile
If you were looking for an FPS specifically for that, I agree BI did not deliver. I think the mistake is in assuming that was its primary focus and it failed to achieve it--it just didn't intend to go there. While it tied in to the original story, it was not an extension or continuation, it went in a different direction in another world.
Much like how lovers of Alien's horror were let down by the action scenes in Aliens, or the lovers of Aliens' action and humor were let down by the dismal fatalism of Alien 3. People who wanted "another one like the last one" were disappointed, but that doesn't mean each sequel was itself poor when evaluated on its own merits.

+1 Jedi

And in the case of Alien 3, I can't think of a better example of a sequel that was completely NOT what audiences were expecting.

Just for th records, I've actually started playing it and I love it. Well part o fit at least.

Graphically the visual study is impressive. Gunplay dynamics are not the best I've found in FPS...

Still it plays nicely. Worth a dollar! biggrin

Did you pay attention to the song that was being sung by the barbershop quartet when you first arrive at Columbia?

It was a Beach Boys song.

There was a running thread of someone in Columbia using a rift to steal music from the future.
