So they were going through C.R.T. Training and not BUD/S training? At the beginning when Demi Moore first arrived at the training camp, the Navy Cmdr said: C.O. Salem: Welcome to SEAL/C.R.T. selection program. You have volunteered for the most intensive military training known to man. You are all proven operators within the SpecOps community: SEALs, EOD, Army Delta, Marine Force Recon, Naval Intel community, and so on. In spite of your expertise, many of you will not successfully negotiate this program. Those that do, will experience an operational tempo that exceeds that of any other unit within the US arsenal. That is all that is to be said about the special nature of the CRT training program. I now turn you over to my Command Master Chief, John James Urgayle. So some of them in the group were SEALs already? I am not a military expert and I never served in the military but just from the little I know, this makes no sense; ESPECIALLY at the end during graduation, isn't that the Navy Seals "Pin/Logo" they are given for completing BUD/S but they were NOT in BUD/S??? Looks like the folks in charge of this movie production and its screenwriters did not do their homework completely.

The Navy actually copyrighted the SEAL qualification badge, so few movies and TV shows ever get to use a correct one.
The opinions of this poster are largely based on facts and portray a possible version of the actual events. More dumb stuff at http://www.darts-page.comFrom Laser: "The forum is the place where combat (real time) flight simulator fans come to play turn based strategy combat."

SEALs get a Trident.
So basically, this is how it works:
You are an operator:
You decide you don't want to be a Plain Jane 18-Series. So you decide to go to a SMU (typically CAG). You drop your packet and if they decide you are a possible candidate they call you. Selection times change, but its about a month. Most of the course is orienteering, I'm sure OG can tell you more, I'll refrain due to obvious reasons.
So you are a support guy:
You decide you want to support CAG or whatever other SMU is available. You drop your packet and it's a 5 day Selection Process. They are very particular about the MOS, if you know anything about it, you'll know that 92 Series and others really don't do much in their Selection Process. It mostly a torture session for 35 and 25 series.
If you are a specific MOS and you decide to go to Orange or something. They don't want you, point blank. If they want you, they'll call you from a number that is random and won't go back to them. I do know Orange does allow packet drops, but that is only for 35Papa. I've listened to guys who have been selected and I won't tell you anything about what I know, but damn it's brutal, but it isn't like the movies. I can't think of a guy who told me they were yelled at. In fact the exact opposite, they just don't care if you do it or don't the tests are stressful enough as it is. They just say, "You can quit at anytime."
Also, if you are a qualified Operator, you just don't stand at Parade Rest very often. It's kinda understood you earned the relaxed status.

I was under the impression that the term "operator" was coined by Colonel Beckwith specifically for Delta, because "Operative" only applied to commissioned officers, and could therefore not be used for the majority of his unit...to the chagrin of the early unit members, who had up to that point associated "operator" with telephone operators. Seems that these days, the term is being used more liberally? Or did the definition change somewhat?
Why men throw their lives away attacking an armed Witcher... I'll never know. Something wrong with my face?
