So, I might be able to get myself an AR-15 for competition purposes now, and was wondering if anyone has any idea about the difference between these manifacturers:

Stag Arms STAG-15 3TM/3G 16"
Armalite - M15 3-Gun Rifle 18"

(Barrel length is not really an issue - it can be swapped once I wear it out from training).

Please, do not suggest other manifacturers - my choice here in Norway is pretty limited.

Both comparable quality. What it boils down to is barrel or features. I'm not familiar with what the aftermarket looks like in Norway but considering the LEGO modularity of the rifles I'd just get the one I can change most easily into what I want, for the cheapest price.

Do you have links to the specific rifles? I can find similar ones on each website but not sure if they're exactly what you're looking at. What sport? 3 Gun? Something like high power rifle?

These two mainly:

http://www.stagarms.com/model-3t-m/

And for use in IPSC Semi Auto Open/Standard.

The Stag is more a base model, it looks like the Armalite has the works with a stainless barrel and compensator.

Speaking for myself personally I'd get the Stag as it provides a more vanilla model to build off of. I'm not a huge fan of those vertical pistol grips on ARs, and the stock on the Armalite looks like a bigger failure point. Plus, the Stag comes with sights out of the box if you're going to wait on optics.

JMHO but honestly I don't think you can go wrong with either brand. It just depends on personal preference and what you look for in a rifle.

Either is good.
I would choose the Stag rifle. (You said barrel is not an issue)

There was a time when Armalite used some proprietary specifications and their uppers and lowers were not perfectly interchangeable with some of the other manufacturers. That changed when everyone adopted the same MILSPEC. I am not aware of any issues now. But their AR10 is different than most of the other AR10's and the shape of the rear of the upper and lower do not allow other AR10s to mate at all. There is also a magazine issue.

Stag used to have a reputation for lesser quality construction and finish. They were not doing the M4 feed ramps that are now standard. I don't know about them in the last few years. I would search a bit on their reported quality.

I must say OG, I'm somewhat disappointed that you would post something like this. And I've mulled over it for a few days too.

Despite the time that has passed, and the obvious reference to the firearm in the "song", there are still some of us around that grew up with the constant threat of terrorist bombs from the cowardly IRA - and that's all they were, cowards. Added to this, the knowledge that there was a certain faction of rich in the U.S.A that were supplying them with weapons and money, make the pill even more bitter to swallow.

America the free! Wherever the f**king $'s are more like. And the U.S has the audacity to call the U.K it's greatest ally? Really? I knew of people who were killed by those very Armalites. It's reflecting back on my own life and what I had seen, and heard, that made me say: "Now they know what it feels like" when September 11 happened.

Yeah, I'm sure I'll get banned now for what I've said, but I don't care. Seems the posting quality on this page has declined in the past few years. Shame.

Andrew.

Kindest regards,

AJ

I'm sorry that I offended you with the song. Certainly did not mean to. I trained with some of the UK Para Regt snipers that fought in Northern Ireland.

I will delete it. Done.

As for the rest of your comments I will leave no response other than " you could have sent me a PM and I would have taken care of it."
