More killer shots!

After losing my 12 kill pilot to an attempt to land at high speed to maintain control effectiveness with shot up ailerons, the Escadrille marches on with a new day and a new pilot...and a borrowed plane.

And back to the squadron's usual mounts.

He is going to sneak in underneath and let his rear gunner go at it

He's likely to get his schnitzel pounded if my guess is correct!

Almost, Robert...

With 450+ hours in Moranes with my two DiD Centenary pilots, I figured I had the angles of the rear guns on those planes down pretty good.

So when I spotted the three of them, maybe five hundred feet above our flight, less than a thousand feet away, Ambrose split off (we're down to 5 pilots in 1 RFC, and I didn't want to get to where we had to cancel flights) and moved into the safe slot. He's nothing if not impetuous...

All was fine, and though I was a little nervous as I got into the range of the two wingmen, no problems. Thought I could pop at least one of them, come in under the flight leader and take him out, then head for home.

Unfortunately, as I came abreast of the two wingmen, I slid just a little to the left, out of the slot, and before I could get back, the flight leader had opened up on me. Took three hits, before I broke off and dove out of range of all of them. I was lucky Ambrose didn't get his fool head blown off.

No real damage, a day of repairs, and Ambrose learned another valuable lesson. Three is too many. Maybe if he spots a solo Pfalz....

Nice shot from behind the lines...literally right behind the lines!

Just a few more to keep the screenshots rolling:

Some days they are just MEAN. First sortie out after getting WOFF V2 back on-line. I get jumped by no less than 3 historical aces at once. I was fully defensive the entire time and barely managed to land just behind my own lines, shot up, wounded and tail between my legs. The AI did an awesome job of keeping me in Scissors, so no matter where I turned, one of them was heading towards me to make a pass. I managed to out climb them briefly and tried to make good my escape but they followed and somebody nosed up enough to start getting rounds through my crate. It was a dive fest complete with jinks and slips all the way to the mud soaked finish line. Kudos again to OBDs amazing AI programing.

Went on an airfield raid mission and some white and black striped Albs showed up. I covered the flight while they finished the mission. One guy crashed into a fence and wrecked his wing up pretty good. Another wasn't so lucky. Fuel tank caught fire. At least it wasn't too far to the ground. Poor sod.

Great shots everyone!

A mixed bag here:

Was pretty happy when RNAS-3 traded their Strutters in

for these...much more fun. Though my first flight back in the Bebe was almost my last when I tried to do a SPAD dive in one.

Whoever chose the sky colors got them eerily right. Always loved the dawn launch.

Thanks Olham!

Nietzsche, weird right? There are about three RNAS-3 hero skins. Each has some pretty bold insignia pasted all over it! I don't know if these were flight leads and maybe needed some easily identifiable markings to keep the larger formations organized. But they seem the most universally marked planes I've seen yet...not including personal all over paint jobs.

New one for me....

Three of us went to bomb a rail line. No opposition etc, nice flight. On the way home one of my wingmen slows down and I think his engine has gone dud. As I turn to land later I see this pilot arriving too, so he made it after all. You know how we always land the same direction that we take off at, well he came straight in from the side. It was obvious that he was in trouble and I thought he might land on a hanger. But no, he came straight in and at the last moment turned westwards and landed. While rolling his engine caught fire, so I ended the mission to be fair...he would of jumped out and ran for it.
