I know, I know.... none is good if you are not wasted or hungry enough.

For really good pizza there are two places around town. One is a modern place with great brick oven cooked pizza (very thin and crispy) and an authentic Italian place, which I love to go and order in Italian (learned in HS) and the guys there love it and make me feel like I am one of the Soprano's (Tony, I guess, by the size of my belly). But their pizza is very rustic and simple, and BIG.

But sometimes I don't want to spend the $40 bucks per pie, and call some delivery from time to time. In my ranking -

Pizza Hut - it is the most consistent and has good fresh ingredients. Good to buy with coupon or on offers and day specials. Otherwise $25+ seems to be too much for a 3 ingredient pan pizza.

Dominoes - Best value, but their ingredients always taste funny/ not fresh to me. Their dough is good. The sauce is OK.

Papa John's - I have tried it twice, and hated it both times (threw most of it to the trash). Sweet...is not a word I want associated with my pizza. Their sauce is sugary and syrupy. I'd rather have frozen pizza than this.

DiGiornos Pizzeria Style would do when nothing else is available.

There's a Mellow Mushroom at LSU we love to eat at, but we still really miss Godfather's that was also right off campus. I don't know if either of those ever delivered.

We make our own pizza (no one delivers out here anyway), including a whole wheat crust from scratch. The occasional food pics I post are usually things *I* cook/prepare, my wife can actually cook. Next pizza I'll pull out the camera, something I usually avoid doing when she's around as she knows I'm likely playing too much.

Oh yeah, don't bother asking me what ingredients I want (or rather don't want). There's no item a typical pizza place will have that I won't enjoy, even if I don't care that item by itself (e.g. olives), throw it on there. I want EVERYTHING!

I forgot Mellow Mushroom is around here too, but they don't deliver. However they once brought pizza from there to work for a lunch meeting, and I tasted the cheese pizza, and it tasted like...nothing. I know it is just cheese and sauce, but I could not even taste the sauce or the mozzarella.

Mellow Mushroom isn't typical pizza, our favorite being shrimp and artichoke heart. I also love their Mediterranean style.

For lots of sauce and cheese, we use to love Upper Crust Pizza in Atlanta. Thinking of their pizza always reminds me of sitting at the table looking over that big beautiful heavy F-117 box and wanting to unwrap the cellophane so badly, but not wanting to get pizza sauce all over it (we had walked from CompUSA).

In Jax, FL we used to love the Pappa John's "Works", maybe we just had a good one.

We have a little Mom-and-Pop pizza place that is okay.

But I'll order in some Pizza Hut (with coupon, always, and then wind up tipping the deliverer the difference, which makes the wife roll her eyes), but I like to pick up a couple large pepperoni pizzas from Little Caesar's.

My tastes are very pedestrian, you see.

I also like almost all the frozen pizzas. They're quick to make, have a decent flavor, and don't pretend to be anything but what they are.

Since I discovered this: http://www.seriouseats.com/2014/10/cast-iron-skillet-tortilla-pizza-bar-pie-food-lab.html

I now know I will rarely take the option of delivery or frozen ever again. This is just too easy and good. (I'm not using the exact same toppings, but the "base pizza" I am.)

Last time I had a pizza delivered from Domino's, about a month ago, it was horrible!

I made them come take it back and give me a full cash refund plus a $30 gift certificate for next time.

Old "life hack" I used to use with pizza delivery - always order extra cheese. Keeps it hotter, keeps it from drying out, and unless you're making it yourself there's hardly a such thing as too much cheese.

I'm honestly amazed that Pizza Hut is still in business. Their restaurants are usually nearly empty whenever I've been there. It's either that or the majority of their business is delivery.

All the Pizza Huts here are delivery only.

It's been 20 years since I've seen one that has a dining room.

Don't laugh but I actually like the "Little Caesars" better than Pizza Hut and Dominos and Papa Johns, around here. $5.00 large pepperoni. Not like the cheap-ass cardboard pizza it was 5 years ago. For take and bake I like Papa Murphy's Stuffed Meat, baked on the grill outside. Godfathers has pretty much died out. frown

The Dominos in Dumbarton make quite good pizza, but I do find it to be on the greasy side which I don't like.

I much prefer my own home made pizza, the kids and grand kids would much rather come and get my home made pizza than one out a shop. To see them get all excited when my wife invites them over for my pizza is special.

We still have Mr. Gatti's Pizza here.

I haven't been to one in 25 years.

I remember back in High School, there was a Mr. Gatti's Pizza off the beaten path before the area near our school became a crowded suburb.

It was the hangout place for us to take girls to on Friday and Saturday night and then go necking in the car in the parking lot.

We couldn't tell our parents we were going out on a date: they would never let us leave home.

But we could tell them we were meeting some friends for pizza.

That Mr. Gatti's Pizza also sell alcohol and the older looking classmates will order beer for everyone at the table.

And you guys don't cook your own pizza? I'm constantly experimenting with the mass trying to get it crunchy sometime and more like bread others.

Will like to see how you guys create your home made pizzas in the US.

Lol. I can barely manage a microwavable pizza. I'm sure there are people in the U.S. who have made their own homemade pizzas but it's definitely a small percentage.

Those Pizza Huts are indeed rare now but there's one about a 5 minute drive from my job. I go there sometimes for their lunch buffet.

The delivery-only we had around here closed.
The only one left is a dine-in + drive-thru one and they DON'T deliver. confused

Needless to say, we get pizza from a variety of places but never Pizza Hut.

There's a place a few miles up the road called Pizza Gallery, they make a huge variety for dine in or pick up (also no delivery). My wife used to get the gluten-free crust but then discovered dairy was out for her, too, so that pretty much makes pizza useless to her as gluten-free, dairy-free pizza just never tastes good.
