Not like the old days at Combat Ace.

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. But in practice, there is.

Just playing away and waiting for the next expansion or patch.
Said it before here: WOFF is pretty much perfect in my eyes and any game issues that I may have (and I have them)I have beat to death here.
Been playing OFF/WOFF for years....

At this moment there are 2 on OFF, 21 on WOFF and 8 on ROF. But it is early morning the US and Canada - 10 am here.
A while back I saw 40 on WOFF but not everybody posts

.

I am being kept so busy right now that there are days at a stretch when I can do nothing more than stop by here for a minute just to see what's new. Don't have time to post anything more than a quick note in one or two topics. Today is yet another such day as I head out the door for work in the next five minutes and won't be home until very late this evening. And what's really the kicker is that I am just about to enter the traditionally busy time of year for me.

NOTE: Yesterday I actually had about 30 minutes to just sit and read and managed to get caught up with everyone's latest adventures over in the DiD Centenary Challenge thread. What a treat! I am hoping I can do the same this weekend sometime with Olham's DID Challenge thread as well.

RL has been keeping me busy lately. I've looked in on here every day, but not had time to write. And only a few flights too frown.

I've been working like a madman as of late, and my rig is collecting dust. Hope to be back in it soon. I sure do miss it.

This is my first time to get on the WOFF sight in weeks! My situation with a wimpy Verizon MIFI is just so bad I am
very unhappy with the whole internet gig. I have tried several solutions and am tired of throwing $$$$ at it
with no improvement. I can log on to other web sites with ease but WOFF is a once ever so often. Bummer!!

The last "paid" down load that worked was a long time ago and with luck I got it on the 5th try.
I have tried to get 2.12 for several weeks with out success.

SO TO THE POINT, I need a friend who is willing to copy 2.12 and send me the disk. I will be happy to pay in advance for all involved cost! This friend MUST be one of the folks who has "credibilty" from a long line of post and being one of the "good folks".

IN the past I have said I would pay alot for the upgrades on a disk from POL & Co. --- so far no luck.
I have $$$$$ so what is the issue.

When I leave Colorado in late Qct. and go back to Arizona, where the MIFI reception is some what better
This may all be moot.
SO, who is willing to help --- and most likley lives in North America?

I don't usually post very often.

Just quietly relish flying.

I was very busy over the last 3 weeks working on a bedroom and two bathroom updates.

I have just started a parallel career following the most highly awarded Canadian, William George Barker.

I am still also reading Barker VC by Wayne Ralph.

I have flown three missions with RFC 9 during the Fokker Scourge.

Then later on to RFC 4, 15, and 28.

Barker's first flight was on March 6,1916 as an observer for the Corp Cooperation support and that date is accurately reflected in WOFF.

What a historical masterpiece is WOFF.

So many great games to play unfortunately smile
I have days where I fire into a game and it keeps me enthralled for weeks.
I fire up WoFF after an update etc to make sure its all ok and play a few missions...
No doubt I'll get the call again and feel the need to immerse myself for a few weeks... it kind of goes in cycles like that for me.

Tango said it........still here enjoying WOFF...just not posting a lot. I guess the Challenges, the generous lashings of updates, and the shadowing/horizon breakthrus had us all revved up. But you're right....it's quiet......too quiet!! ...rumble of ominous music...

Hi Robert and fellow pilots (observers too!)

I'm reading that book for the second time and it is even better the second time through.

I became a landed immigrant from Washington state in April of 2011.

I have been catching up on Canadian history especially World War I and II.

Exciting to relive some of it in WOFF!

And I am using your greatly appreciated backup program all the time.

Best regards,

Tango

Or the older Simouthouse days!!!

Not a regular poster, only keep a close eye on this forum, but I must admit I'm not a huge fan of the SimHQ forums. In the past I have received lots of problems regarding: browser compatibility, after login still the "your not logged in" message when posting, no connection or a verrrrrrry slooooow one. Now a half year later it seems this has been fixed, so lets hope.

edit: and I have a new job, so not much RoF/WoFF/Clod/Bos any more.

Coming back from holidays. Spain is so sunny and warm it sometimes takes some time to get used to be at home early wink Flying this marvellous sim as often as I can. Reading the forum almost everyday. Feeling fortunate to have this amazing piece of software waiting for me, a cup of wine, silence at home, adjusting my Trackir hat, here we go,...

WOFF is amazing isn't it?
Wish OBD had a $10,000,000.00 budget so they could devote full time to cranking out more WOFF goodness.
Love this sim but on a more serious note is it red or white with WOFF?

Hiya Robert,

haven't posted much lately but I check here every day.

WOFF is a wonder, but I have other interests too - music, fishing -
it is difficult to fit it all in sometimes.

Glad to hear that Olham will return after his spell of
compassionate leave.

Hope to visit your wonderful country one day.
All the best

CW3SF, I've got you; check your PMs.

Other than that, I've just figured that I've not had anything worth mentioning. Kinda bummed at my two Did pilots going the way they did, but I've "unofficially" got replacements in the air. Just flying when I can, before I have to go back to the classroom next week (teacher.)

An Albatros D.III approaches a big Entente airfield and roars over the mess at treetop level.
A little parachute comes swaying down and lands right outside the mess door.
The pilots come rushing out to see what this roaring noise was, and find the tiny metal capsule.
A fight begins about who is the one to open it and read the message.

Lieutenant Hauksbee finally gets it and reads the note loud for all:

"Ze qviet times vill soon bee over - der Albatros-Man vill return to der skies over Flanders fields!
I hope you made zome progress vizz flyink ant fightink - I desperately need some entertainment!
Mmuahahahahaaa!"

Lieutenant "Duke" Ironhand raises his fist to the skies and shouts: "What cheek the man has!"

Lieutenant Carrick shrugs and asks: "Is this good news or bad?"

Captain Louvert reads the note again and mutters: "I guess we will learn soon enough..."

Shot down - yes. Killed - no.
German intelligence spread that rumour, hoping the British might draw more squadrons
back to Britain for home defense duties.

I thought as much! Albert "Mushroom" Ward sent me a couple of photos he took on a recent pass over Boistrancourt! How he managed to capture colour in his photos I will never know! Perhaps it is some secret film development testing going on, but here is some interesting evidence!!

Those call letters invoke some memories!!

Haha, you guys are priceless!
Great pics, Robert - I wonder how you got those caught - and even in colour!
Cavaliere, if I was in Italy in summer, I would probably also not find much time for simming.

PS: Damn, this "Boistrancourt" appears much advanced compared to my version.
Guess I have to catch up with things quite a bit.

I just went over to CombatAce to see the OFF pilot maps. Many pilots seem to have disappeared although maybe they just don't post here any more. Some have changed names eg. Robert Wiggins = RJW. The Australians seem to have disappeared all except Hood.

Yes it seems that those of us who have migrated to WOFF from OFF, tend not to go over to Combat Ace very frequently and post there less so.
I still visit off and on to see what's up.

Well, Olham is back! Bless the Lord!

As for me, R/L is very consuming, especially in the summer. It's very tough to find the time to fly. But I do check in here and post when I can. As Olham noted on his comeback thread, this is one of the most gentlemanly and civilized forums I've ever encountered, and I really enjoy keeping up with y'all!

I haven't posted anything in the old forum in a long time. And now it seems to be pretty much dead. I suppose the WW1 flight sim community is not big enough to adequately populate several forums at the same time, especially when this is the official forum of WOFF now.

Enjoying this thread as we all figure out how to get in some flight time in the midst of r/l. I'm in the same boat as most everyone, and at the same time we're all just dying to see what the dev's come of with next. Haven't begun to wear out Balance of Power but they just keep coming up with the best new stuff. Gotta' love it! I'm not addicted or anything, I can quite at any time, (yeh, right). hood, I'm four months from age 66, so I'm just a pup to you, keep 'em flying! I go over to Combat Ace some but this seems like the 'real' WOFF forum to me. Different direction, good book, The Unsubstantial Air, by Samuel Hynes. From the US point of view, without politics, really breathes life into the pilots. Author was a WWII pilot, young, came in late, only flew at Okinawa. He really knows how to write as an airman. Best to all

Yes, a Sopwith Camel. And Olham, as I've heard it, HD has studied thoroughly Dej's dissertation on how to handle the little beastie. Mmuahahahahaaa indeed. winkngrin

Yeah, I know...
I'm just re-reading Lee's "No Parachute" and am just at the passage, where the Camels
appear at the front. While the Albatros D.V outclassed the Sopwith Pup easily (said Lee -
they could surely evade much more agile, but rarely succeeded against an Alb themselves,
though it happened), the D.V were getting a much harder time, when the SPAD XIII, the
S.E.5a and the Camel appeared in larger numbers.
Lee wrote, the Camel could turn by it's length (which is a very short length, as we know).
These three aircraft must have made the Red Baron mad, and made him say, the Albatros
D.V was obsolete and no use for anything.
The D.V was not bad, and surely an improvement over the D.III (as Lee also notes) -
but she was still outclassed by those 3 successful Entente fighters.

Hmm...
Seems to be just the same Feeling I had, when flying this weirdly skinned Tiger-striped-Dragon-Camel with my Character "Rob Roy". I felt like the Top Predator with 40+ Kills... until I met the first D7. I instantly filled ot a Transfer-Request to an SE5-Squad after that Mission (the "Flying Copycats" of another Topic ;-)

My Reason for not having made any Videos for a While is, I built this:

out of that:

Nietzsche, that bike begs the question "Why?", but as I've had similar projects myself over the years I am relatively certain the answer will be, "Because I can." As we would have said back in the custom bike days of my youth, "Trick ride, man!"

Well, that was the Bike of my new Ex-Girlfriend. She didn't want to take it with her, and the Frame was too small for me. Now, I haven't got a Girlfriend, but a cool new Bike biggrin

Well, maybe you can attract another with that bike; one that fits better with you.

@ Olham:
Nope. That Brand was called "Europa" and dissappeared from the Market long before the Internet was invented (by Al Gore). It is from 1974 and has "Made in WEST-Germany" stamped on it LOL
As for my Girlfriend: Well, it was not the Style, as you can see here:

She simply turned more and more conservative (wanted to move together, hanging around with her Parents, playing Family and so on...)

@MudWasp:

Behind the Bike is a KVA-GT40 from 1972 (the first, that continued GT40-Production, after Ford stopped). On the Left of it you can see a 1928 Ford Y (a Bit like the Angila), which we stuffed a Midget-V8 into. Behind the GT40 there's a 1965 Lincoln with Suicide-Doors in bone-stock-condition.
On the Car-Lifts are a 1965 'stang Sportsroof with Wilwood, Global West and all that fancy Stuff, and a 1949 Buick Super8. We kept the Straight8-Engine (because these Mills are waaaaaaay cool), but the Rest is totally modified ('94 Astro-Van Rear, TH350-C (Adapter by Speed Gems), electrical Water Pump, Fans and so on). On the Outside you can see Prometeus. It's a 1965 Thunderbird with a high powered F385 (460BBF) with Super Cobra Jet2 Heads and roughly 11:1cr in it. Construction of the Headers was a real hassle, and, believe it or not: The Stock-Hood fits (no ugly Scoops). A real Sleeper :-)

That Buick with a straight 8 must be fun to listen to and drive.
One oddball engine i recall from a antique car coloring book I had as a kid was a Marmon 16, just seemed so cool and one of a kind.

You mean this amazone slowly changed so much?
I guess you recognised her less and less.

@ Olham:
Thanks :-) Initially we just wanted to make some cool Shots for the Bow I built for her, but it quickly got it's own Drive... we even thought about making a kind of Photo-Superhero-Comic, but such an intricate Enterprise simply excelled our Abilities, mainly because it is an almost impossible Task to "synchronize" the spare Time of a lot of People, all with different Jobs, different Lifes, different Hobbies and so on...

@ Wasp:
Just read the Wiki-Text on the Marmon16... I didn't know, that Cadillac effectively STOLE their V16-Design from Marmon... that is soooooo spineless nope
I never had one of those in my Garage... if they weren't so obscenely expensive, I would buy one driving
As for the Straight8: It practically sounds like a normal Straight6, so that's a bit boring, but it's cool, anyway... and it is not as slow as most People think. It has only got roundabout 120 Horses, but it's Torque hinders it from being a mobile Road Block ;-)

Olham's Term "Amazon" reminds me of something:
I always wanted to translate a Comic-Book I made into English, but it is a bit... adult LOL
Before I'll do anything, I would first want to have some Admins look at it, to see, wether posting that would be Okay or not. My Problem is, that I need Native English (American) Tongues for a lot of Jokes, which I simply have no Idea, how to translate.
Best Example for the German Folks, here:
Have you tried to explain to an American, what an "YPS-Heft" is? I need something equvalent for the english Version...
The second Problem: It is sooooooo Off-Topic RTFM

Totally forgot to ask biggrin
Who IS a Forum-Admin, here?
