http://www.ew.com/article/2015/08/27/galaxy-quest-tv-series-amazonExclusive: Series based on the 1999 sci-fi favorite in development at Amazon Studios
The shows development is at an early stage. Its not clear if members of the films cast will be sought for the show, or if the series will be a complete reboot. The film had some major (and tough to get) names among the NSEA Protector crewincluding Sigourney Weaver, Tim Allen, Alan Rickman and Sam Rockwell.
Behind the camera, however, the crew is very much the same. The films co-writer Robert Gordon will pen the script and executive produce the pilot. The films director Dean Parisot will direct and executive produce. And executive producers Mark Johnson and Melissa Bernstein are on board as well. (You might say they never gave up, never surrendered). This could be good, even with a new cast.

Well even if they can't get the other bigger names back I'd settle for Tony Shalhoub and Missi Pyle as an intergalatic I love Lucy.

It won't work without the original cast imho. Lightning will not strike twice.
And besides the water passed under that bridge a long time ago. Galaxy Quest came out 16 years ago and NOW they are making a TV show based on the movie? Too late.

So is it "Galaxy Quest" the fictional TV show being brought to real TV or is it "Galaxy Quest" the movie about the fictional TV show being brought to TV?
Put another way, is the male lead character Jason Nesmith or Peter Quincy Taggart?

Interesting this comes up. Alan Tudyk's (and Nathan Fillion's) "Con Man" is a webseries launching in a few weeks. If you watch the panel from Comic Con, it should be hilarious. I don't expect the part of actually going into space. It follows an actor (Tudyk) from a hugely successful, but cut off early, scifi show (he should know his role well), but unlike Alan, the guy hates going to the cons. The cast looks incredible, they pull scifi regulars from all over the place. Everyone wants to be on the show. Comes out on Vimeo next month.
