In work today( on break.)LoL We were discussing what TV show/movies we were in to currently. I named a few the other guys stated what they were watching Then It dawned on me, with a few acceptions mostly sports shows and news nearly every TV show and movie stated were American made. I haven't got a problem with that. if a show or movie is good I don't care who makes it. But it did make me wonder was this the case in other country's obviously England Ireland Australia new Zealand Canada and some others share the same language so it makes sense the Americans have the finances to make big budget shows and movies. And in fairness the country's listed make and have made some classic movies TV shows.
So my question for the European and American forum members is, Would you say you watch many foreign TV shows if so can you name a few.
erm it depends what channel you watch really, the main channels (1 to 4) run only britsh made shows (films are obviously different), on the digi channels though you get more american stuff, some run only american shows (cos their the same channel as their american counterparts, so discovery, history etc), some are a right mix, so you get aussie stuff, followed by US stuff, followed by UK stuff etc etc

I've seen a few non-US tv shows,
Monty Python's Flying Circus
Benny Hill
Fawlty Towers
Rome - Yes it was co-financed between HBO and the BBC but all of the actors and writers were from the UK so it counts!
Mr. Bean
Kids in the Hall
SCTV
Top Gear
There are some other shows that I've given a try by watching an episode or two but I couldn't get into them such as Dr. Who.

I always really liked the British Top Gear until the Marxists running the BBC fired Clarkson. Whatever Clarkson, Hammond and May make next, I'll watch.
Still waiting for the next season of "Detectorists" to air sometime at the end of the year.
Does Game of Thrones count since it's shot outside the US and has a lot of non-American actors?
I refuse to buy a flight sim that I have no interest in playing, on the off chance that MAYBE someday they'll make the one I really want to play.
having given it some more thought excluding movies, I can only remember seeing one European TV show on UK tv it was a German cop show It was pretty good. I am sure there have been more European shows aired on UK/Irish TV but I cant honestly remember them. Dubbed shows mite not be popular with English speakers. where's it not an issue with most other European nations

For the most part, it's extremely difficult for a non-English language tv show to get international exposure and popularity. What happens instead is that the non-English language tv show gets remade/rebooted into an English language version.
@Marko - Maybe it's just semantics but aren't the UK and Ireland part of Europe? Maybe you meant to say that you've seen "continental European" tv shows in the UK/Ireland?

There are a multitude of European shows on British satellite/cable TV, mainly on the more "artsy" channels - BBC4, Sky Arts etc. Nordic and Scandenorwegian dramas are all the rage it seems at the moment.
Does "Walking Dead" count with all the British actors?

Our cable company provides a selection of TV shows from the US, Canada, and the UK. We sometimes get stuff from Australia as well. There are French channels that show stuff from France as well as Quebec.
I don't watch a whole lot of TV but I do like and watch. Banished, Call the Midwife, Peaky Blinders, Doc Martin and Mrs. Brown's Boys ( from the UK )
I used to like Sea Patrol and Flying Doctor from Australia when they were on.
Well Doctor Who for one, but aside for that, here's the list of all the sci-fi made/filmed in Canada (it's a lot, and damn MacGyver and Airwolf count as sci-fi?)
I don't have a TV any more.If I did I don't think there's anything worth watching here anyway. All my viewing is done on-line.I'm currently working through all 8 seasons of The Big Bang Theory for the second time.

On a related note to highlight a previous point I made, here is an interesting list of US tv shows that were remakes or based on shows from other countries,
I had no idea that "Homeland" was based on a show from Israel.

Outlander; local TV station have split the season in two, we have had the first 7 episodes and the rest of the season will be broadcast starting sometime in September
Person of Interest; quite enjoying this series
Various UK police dramas like Midsomer Murders, Silent Witness, Waking the dead etc.
NCIS; the original series not so keen on the spin offs
Forever; with Ioan Gruffudd
Locally produced programs like:
T'huis; daily soap in Vlaams, wife and kids favourite program
Vermist; Vlaams police drama
Moordvrouw; Nederlands police drama featuring a woman police detective
Sturm der liebe; German language soap set in a 5star hotel

I'd say a good 90% of the TV I've watched in the past 20 years was filmed in Canada. Probably the US and UK tie for 2nd place.
As a side effect of this, I see a lot of the same actors in secondary roles and sometimes starring ones over and over.

Been watching Flashpoint, a Canadian police series about a SWAT team in Toronto, one of the things I like about it is that I can say to the wife "OOoh I've been there too..."
