Newly renamed from Mudcat's Favorite Planes, I put roughly the same amount of thought that went into the original title and came up with this and since I spent 5 minutes making a logo I'll just stick with it for a bit :P

Anywho, episode 2 features the F4F-4, enjoy

Is WOW easy enough to get into and does the grinding I hear about to get better planes leave you feeling satisfied? Looks so good. Wish they'd bring Birds of Steel to PC. I have it on the Xbox.

War Thunder is actually Birds of Steel for PC. Same way that Birds of Prey on Console was Wings of Prey on PC. They have a pacific pack that offers the same single player US/Japan missions. Well, let me just say that it was the base for it as it's evolved a good bit since then.

When it comes to "the grind" I guess you can look at it 2 ways, if you just take the time to enjoy each plane as you go, then I guess it's not bad, but at the same time, if you are just flying something to get to something else, it might drive you batty. Although I guess that goes the same for most things though. It's been so long since I've had to start that I probably can't give you a real good idea on how it is to start. Probably not to bad the first tier or 2, and tier 2 has mostly all the flight sim mainstays in 'em. Several years later and I still mostly fly those machines 95% of the time.

I quite enjoyed the barrels.. as a team, we had lots of fun in them.

karayas vid:

and concerning the grind: in WT one really needs to let loose, it simply isn´t the game to spend much money on, as it is casual fun not deep sim, but once you let go of "I want that or that plane" it works quite well, tier II&III sim battles are most fun for me, and in "sim" you get there rapidly as you can make 2-3k rp with one kill (always use up your boosters, too) and then it is just a pleasant surprize if they give you a new toy.

in high tiers the grind gets real.. but as I said, don´t look to advance, look to have fun with what you have in this game.

see you in game, mud.. looking forward to more of your enjoyable vids

cheers Thank you sir. Shame they only do events on the weekends now, when I don't really have time for WT. I'll either have to dig up some more older footage for the next one or just wait and hope they change how they offer things yet again biggrin

great! that is so much fun, and the built-in voice coms make spontanious coop very easy. One doesn´t need much prepartion or set up any extra programs for a quick flytogether. Thats what I really like about WT.

Well that's got me interested you saying they have a Pacific campaign. So it can be played in a traditional, single player approach as in Birds of Steel? Thanks for the info. Love those Grumman cats!

Sorta, well, that campaign is there to buy, but I don't know if you have to unlock stuff as well to play it.
Give me a minute to take a look :P

ok, the US/Japan Campaigns are the same as the main one in Birds of Steel 98% sure anyway. Here it is for War Thunder https://store.gaijin.net/story.php?title=Pacific-Advanced-Pack-1

Now, personally, I would never spend $50 for that if I was exclusively looking for single player, the bulk of that price goes to the premium vehicles, premium account and Gold Eagles. You can't exactly unlock planes in the single player part of War Thunder.

There are other single player missions that unlock as you gain planes and such from multiplayer. Some of which I think I recall from Wings of Prey/Birds of Prey. They do have CDK where you can make missions there are some dynamic campagins and such as well that are free.

Honestly, if that's only where your interest is in, I'd just download and give any free stuff a go. But I wouldn't really recommend buying anything solely for the single player content in it if that makes sense. That stuff is the same, but the game's sole focus is really MP.

Okay thanks Mudcat. I'll look into it but yeah 50 bucks is too much for just added content.

phew, ok, it's a good game, don't get me wrong, but you probably would have been pissed at me for dropping $50 just for the single player aspect of it duck

Sorry for the rambling, I was trying to explain in a hurry and had 3 kids babbling in my ear while I was typing. Glad I blurted out enough in time haha

Is that Karaya from Aces High 2 days? I wonder how much of the AH2 crowd has migrated to these other sims (World of Warplanes and War Thunder)?
