Watched the series finale to Strike Back yesterday, and came off rather disappointed by the overall quality of this final 5th season. Harebrained story ark, bad writing, lackluster acting. A far cry from what the series used to be, IMO.

Which got me thinking about other really bad final seasons to otherwise good shows. So far I've got:

- Californication. While not every season was as good as the first two (looking at you, 3 and 5), the 7th and final series was abysmal. It felt like there was a whole new (early twen hipster) writing team with the mission to butcher the show as thoroughly as possible. I just pretend the show ended with season 6.

- The Newsroom. Ran out of ideas midway through the previous season and IMO should have stopped there.

- Two and a half men, which actually stopped being any good halfway through season 6, and got dragged on and on to its slow demise like roadkill behind some F150. hick

What are yours?

X-Files

While there are a few episodes from that season that I like the quality for the season overall was a huge drop compared to the previous seasons. And then there was the series finale which was a huge letdown imho. It also felt like a very different show since Scully's role was scaled back and Agent Reyes came to the forefront and of course Mulder is completely gone until the finale.

LOL!! Many people are very passionate about their favorite shows so whenever someone else has a contrary opinion about the show they sometimes lose it. As for me, I don't stress at all about it. I know that there will always be some people out there who don't like a show regardless of how popular or critically acclaimed it is. For example, I'm sure there are people out there who don't care for Game of Thrones. **gasp**

LOST, but to be fair it went downhill long before the last season.

Dexter, they just didn't know how to end the series.

Star trek: TNG, some really bad episodes are in the last season.

Same could be said for TOS. Nimoy or Shatner described it as the monster of the week season.

EDIT: Speaking of Game of Thrones. Today, I just realized that Ollena Tyrell is played by Diana Riggs. I don't like the opening theme song and usually fast forward to next weeks preview and episode recap so I usually miss some of the credits.
