Ice Cold in Alex or Eating in ...
After reading The Martian, I have just started the serialised novel of Far From Home by Tony Healy, trouble is The Martian is a hard act to follow.

Far From Home is as you would probably guess from the title, a "lost in space" type story, I'm not that far into the story just about the place where they got lost smile It is enjoyable and kind of familiar with other stories I have read.

@ 0.99 from Amazon it is a cheap read smile http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00FI...detailpage_o09_

Just started reading "The Gallic War" by Julius Caesar last night.

Just started on 'Lock in' by John Scalzi. Pretty good read after around a quarter read.

This month...let me see if I can remember.

Pebble in the Sky by Asimov
The Swarm War: Star Wars (Dark Nest, Book III) by Troy Denning
Command Authority by Mark Greaney (not yet halfway through this one)
Star Wars: Lockdown by Joe Schreiber

I think that's it.

Stranger in a Strange Land by Robert Heinlein. I grokked it a little more after reading it for the third or fourth time! smile

I will re-read Starship Trooper after this. And then I will try to find as many Heinlein novels in the Kindle format as I can! smile

A Rumour of War by Philip Caputo

Reviews and such at Amazon

It is not an anti-war book, neither does it glorify war, it's just one man's re-telling of his experiences as a Marine officer in the early stages of the Vietnam war.

Maybe the best book I have ever read about the ground war in Vietnam. Highly recommended.

Just finished reading "The Man In The High Castle" by Phillip K Dick. I liked the book overall, but it was hard to follow in some places. I am big fan of PKD and heard good things about this book. I didn't like the ending, as it kinda just stopped, like the author got interrupted and never got to finish writing the ending. Maybe it's not the ending I was envisioning.

Anyone else read the book and what are your thoughts?

Just finished book 2 in the Jim DeFelice (writing as James Ferro) HOGS! series.

Book 2: HOG DOWN!

Still cranking through The Hunter Killers that I started this thread with smile

Painful read at times. Any time I read a history of the Vietnam War I am stunned at the terrible decisions made and the people who paid for them.
