Hi all, just wondering if anyone here has tried using the leo bodnar rotary switches for the BBI32 button interface, these only require 2 wire inputs to the board, rather than the usual one connection for each position on the switch, I am wondering about using one for the weapon selector for the DCS Mig21 bis, but I cant see how the just two inputs work, unless its just to move the position of the switch up or down.

Cheers all

Dont think of it as being vastly outnumbered ... but just having a large target selection.

These switches have fixed-value resistors between the contacts to mimic a potentiometer of sorts(works as a voltage divider).
This is then read out by an analog to digital input on the controller chip(in theory you could have analog axes on the BBI-32, however this is not enabled in firmware) and the voltage drop is translated into button presses by the firmware.

Each rotary will show up as 12 buttons, if the switch is set to position 6, button 6 will be held down, and so on.

cheers for the reply ... I also contacted bodnar themselves and got some similar info.. it will still take 12 of the inputs from the board but just has two wire inputs to the board ... some very clever electronics .. and I may have to get a second BBI32 for more buttons ... Ive been told this is how the addiction to simpits start "just one more bodnar board" biggrin

There's now way to make a script with, e.g. Autohotkey to handle Encoder left/right press in logical way:
If you turn clockwise 1,2,3,4,5 and then counter-clockwise 2 positions 3 is pressed?

Use 1/3 of inputs of BU0836 to handle just the weapon selector of Mig-21 is senseless...

BTW - I find a way to handle, in logical way, the Mig-21 Weapon Selector with only 2 joystick buttons, using the keymapper Joy2Key:

A cheap hardware alternative, a 12 position rotary switch and a USB controller from keyboard, wire the rotary switch to press the keys 1,2,... 0,-
