Hi

I was just wondering if there will be tools in the Nevada map to create search and rescue / air ambulance missions. By this I mean things like the ability to land at a city hospital (i.e. a proper landing pad and signage) and the ability to set up vehicles as though there had been a crash etc.

I have been looking for a decent replacement ever since S&R3 got out of date and I'm thinking that the Nevada map, having a large civilian playing area, might be well set up for this.

If anyone knows I would be interested to hear.

Cheers!

I'd think that anything the Huey can do currently, would be carried over to DCSW2 and the new map(s). So basically and SAR type missions you can do now.

That said, I'd also consider Arma 3, and some of the community made missions (there's a neat auto-gen series of heli missions on steam workshop), to get your SaR fix. DCS does helis better from a physics/systems stand point, but A3 has a broader hanger and range of content mods available. Plus the advanced heli models they introduced last year are still pretty challenging/rewarding to fly (IMO), so it's a good balance of features. A3 has a more visually engaging landscape to fly over (although is more of a performance hog as a result) as well.

That said, assuming you're on the rig in your signature, I suspect neither DCSW2 or A3 will run well, or maybe even at all :/

I am not so sure that DCS is really that much better than ARMA purely in terms of flight. But that's easy to argue as I have never flown a Huey or an Mi8. The two helos I have flown were small and FAR more stable than the DCS Huey. In truth, they didn't fly much like ARMA either but if forced to pick, ARMA is easier and easy is how I found helicopters to be with a few minutes of practice. But what really makes ARMA better in this one small area is that hills and outcroppings aren't faceted like they are in DCS1. if the incline of a hill is too steep for a safe landing, you can often move higher up the hill until the curve lowers the incline sufficiently. Plus grass sways, snakes slither away, buildings take damage, you can walk into your tailrotor, wounded board somewhat realistically--all making the experience seem lifelike.

It would be nice to have Arma 3 detail with the flight models of DCS. I have flown a lot of heli sims and I just can't get used to the ArmA model.

I would be happy with a hospital model with a dedicated landing pad and some placeable models that can be set on fire etc.

I need to update my signature. I updated my rig ages ago and it should run either very well.
