I can't believe that no company is putting out a decent authentic single player ww2 tank simulator. The only decent ones I can think of is Paner Elite SE with the pp2x 1.2 that came out years ago and mod makes it better than eveything today. Or the really expensive combat mission ww2 games. I just tried the kharkov 1942 demo and the controls were really odd and there is no normandy/italy campaign. There doesn't appear to be many playable tanks as its stuck in 1942 and better tanks are not out yet. Tiger vs T34 is another eastern front game. Why isn't anyone bothering with the western africa or italy campaigns in authentic tank sims? All we get are dumb arcade ones.
We need a sim that has:
-historically correct stuff!
-Many tanks playable from all sides
-Dates where tanks come into service spanning 1940-1945.
-Many support vehicles
-Many theaters of war playable
-TROOPS AND MORE TROOPS WITH RAG DOLL PHYSICS!

-TROOPS AND MORE TROOPS WITH RAG DOLL PHYSICS! A Subject I have raised a few times my self. Have been hoping for a high fidelity WW2 armour sim for years IMO, there is a gap in the market for such a sim. But it was pointed out to me by a industry insider the financial reality's of such a project Its a niche section of the milsim market. (Unfortunately)

In SP WWII armor sims, Steel Fury and the mods STA and NTA have been doing good job!

Making a working tank model with working interior is no small thing. It take months of work for 1 tank. And no big companies with big pockets will touch the legit sim market as it simply does not sell as well as even a really bad fps. That could always change of course. Folks want tons of playable working tanks. A small dev might only be able to manage 1 every 3 months. So more than 2 or 3 tanks is a massive issue. You can drop the legit interiors and plop out a really good external model every 2 to 3 weeks. But fully working button pushing/switch throwing/crew working is quite nifty. Oh and that sets you away from arcade tank blaster games. I think most players think the work is all 3D modeling and skinning. Having gone from CAD student, to a hobbyist modeler, to a hobbyist skinner and finally a hobbyist coder. The most time consuming is the programming part. It's also the most expensive. I like DCS's modular business model but make it so the game engine is the module sold. Vehicles and infantry can be added through an DLC store of modder created content. Start with the Grant and the Pz3 in African daylight with no weather. Yes that is an odd choice, but game mechanics needed for the Grant are unique. The Pz3 balances the game play. Limit the initial release to an 8 person MP. client to client if need be. Here is where reality kicks you. About the time you have this done, MicroSoft will change the operating system and your entire modular system is shot and you will be required to start all over with a new version of DirectX Since the market is so small, you would be better to program it for Linux or some other software and sell a wrapper module to the latest version of Windows. don't forget to thank me after you make it rich LOL

In SP WWII armor sims, Steel Fury and the mods STA and NTA have been doing good job! Indeed they have gunny, sorry I forgot to mention it. I never really took to the sim my self but many others did and It does have a decent collection of DLC The lack of MP turned me off it. Finally got around to watching fury last night. The movie had a lot of inaccuracy's but it wetted my appetite for a high fidelity WW2 tank sim With models as well made as War thunders, Would really like a M4E8 Sherman.

Marko1231123,
I agree, that game would have been exponentially better with MP, and I even go a little bit further; the panorama of WWII Armor MMO's would be different if Steel Fury would have offered MP a while back!...
There is also Rising Storm Red Orchestra 2 that offers a real WWII Armor sim with 2 players per tank. Yet more maps with Tank concentration where mechanized infantry support armor and less maps about infantry support would improve the perception of that game/sim in the mind of armor simmers.
It is said that it is easier to prevent than heal, and I wonder what it will take to get a MMO market to sway toward a WWII Armor strictly Simulator.
I agree with you Asid.

HMMM last I heard steel fury only moved 20k copies. Its probably higher now that its getting sold via gamersgate. But I am sure its not much higher. And that is the issue. Well coupled with no advertising and legit publisher doing publisher things.
Still, I think if handled right there is always hope. Wow 20K? I thought it might be much higher since SFK42 has been available on GG for well over 6 years now. GT hinted a couple years back that a new WW2 tank sim could happen using GTOS as a basis. I'm hoping that with SABoW (and GT's tactics series) now on Steam the funds may become available to move this project forward. I know a lot of people don't like Steam for various reasons and I can understand that. But for a company like GT it's probably the best match since most (if not all) of GT's publishers to date have produced less then desirable results for GT as a company.
