Ice Cold in Alex or Eating in ...
The it was on the news yesterday as Calgary US, never knew that Canada had been annexed smile
According to the news report he also got in trouble with the FAA...
So I don't think the reporter did his/her homework on that one.

Vienna, 2nd rock left.
How can you spend 20K on such a thing?

LOL, from the Wikipedia on Cluster Balooning:

Quote:
Yoshikazu Suzuki departed from Lake Biwa in Japan on 23 November 1992 with helium balloons. He was spotted by a Japanese coast guard aeroplane on 25 November 1992, located about 800 km offshore over the Pacific Ocean, at altitude between 2,500 and 4,000 m, and was never seen again.

What a stupid and irresponsible thing to do.

Yeah, he was laughing about a jet going right below him and seeing 747's nearby. Jackass.

Not sure on the exact figures but on the radio I heard the balloons were $8 a pop and it cost $80 to fill each one + the $20 lawn chair smile

I live in Calgary. A couple people I know saw this live. He wasn't in the air for that long of a time. Just a few minutes before he parachuted out. And there were no 747 jets landing under him like he says. He wasn't anywhere near the airport. He made that part up to add to the drama.

Helium is getting scarce and expensive. Good time to make
money with a helium mine.
