My Logitech MOMO which I've had for close to 10 years is finally very long in the tooth and I'm ready to get a new wheel. I've been looking at the Logitech G27 and it just so happens that New Egg is having a 4th of July sale and they are currently selling the G27 for $239.99. Is that a good price? Thanks.

Don't wait too long to get it, because it seems the G920/29 is around the corner and they will stop making the 27s. And the new one is $400! The Jedi Master

Im partial to Fanatec, but that being said, there's no mid level or lower options from them right now.
the Thrustmaster TX for XBO is upgradable w/ pedals, rims and shifterz.

Thanks. Are you PC only? Or do you race on consoles as well? I know the momo is PC only, but if you wanted to expand to consoles, that could change the convo. Personally, I'm eyeing the TM TX myself, because it has (reportedly) much smoother FFB, and I like the idea of upgrading the pedals (or using an adapter with my Fanatc clubsports, hat tip to skatezilla for pointing that out), and adding new wheels to the collection. I've also heard great things about the shifter that's available for the TM, and I'm willing to shell out the cash for a more immersive experience given that this setup will work with both my PC and my XBO. Another consideration for the more modular TM setup; if something breaks down the line (wheel, shifter, pedals), they can be replaced individually if you're out of warranty. Logi locks you into buying all three at once; on the surface a great value, but it means replacing something requires a whole new setup If you're looking at both consoles and PC, then I'd say the TM TX looks like a better value, as Logis replacement will be $460 (with the plasticy H-shifter added in). You can get the TM wheel for $300, and then either just drive with that to start, or drop some extra cash on the shifter or pedals. If you're PC only, then I'd say the G27 is a stronger buy, since you can use other shifters and pedals down the line anyway, versus being locked into an 'eco system' like on the consoles. Finally: If you're MOMO still works through, and you want to consider the consoles, It wouldn't surprise me if the G27s replacement wheels drop from their $400 price pretty rapidly. The setup just doesn't appear as competitive at $400 plus $60 for the shifter, but if they could get the price down to $300, that would match the TM wheel price, and come with a nicer set of pedals and a nicer wheel in the box (I've heard the stock TM wheel can be pretty plasticity)

Yeah G27 is a great PC wheel especially if you aren't a diehard race simmer yet, you can't really go wrong with it.
I used mine for years, and am still using the G27 pedals with my TX wheel which I upgraded to a few months ago.

The only thing I'd change about the G27 is to get a higher quality shifter. Which you can do, just as a separate piece, from other sources. You can also upgrade the springs in the pedals very cheaply to get a better feel from them...the brakes in particular. This is a VERY easy mod, just takes a few minutes: http://www.nixim.com/
