So just ordered my first gaming rig since 2007. Its nothing special but I feel it will at least put me on an equal footing with some of you guys in the graphics department. This is mainly in effort to improve the looks of War Thunder since I am mainly running on the mid-high range and usually at 25-30 fps. Hopefully this'll increase my joy from the game. smile

Some details...

CPU: AMD Athlon X4 860K Quad-Core 3.7GHz (4.0 GHZ Turbo) Socket FM2+ 95W
GPU: MSI GeForce GTX N750Ti-2GD5/OC 2GB GDDR5 PCI Express (PCIe) DVI/VGA Video Card
MOBO: MSI A78M-E45 AMD A78 Socket FM2+/FM2 mATX Motherboard
8GB DDR3 1600 12800 MHZ Memory
1TB SATA Hard Drive 1 HDMI Port
650W PSU
DIYPC Solar-M1-B Black Dual USB 3.0 ATX and Micro-ATX Mid Tower Gaming Computer Case with 2 x 120mm Blue Fans
8 USB Ports
DVD RW Drive
WIFI Card

Got it for $600 which I figured was a fair price. I'm already thinking I will replace the GPU but not sure with what.

Thoughts?

That should do things pretty well. I have something a bit similar, but older and play on high settings and well the frame rate that never dips below 60 in game, I don't pay much attention to it, but it probably doesn't drop below 100. CPU is slightly higher, GTX 760 but tbh, before that I had a GTX 480 and played it on high with zero issues.

if you are thinking about swapping out the card you can always check this http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html

find it to be a pretty good resource for basically finding the most bang for the buck.

Nice ! Best thing you could do for it is add an SSD Graf, grab a small one like a Samsung evo840 120 or 250gb and only chuck Windows and Steam on it. Pretty cheap atm and getting cheaper, awesome for texture and game loading and using proggies like photoshop etc. I have been promising myself a full upgrade for about 4 years now but still paddling along on the old i5 and my faithful GTX460 biggrin SSD is the best thing i ever did for the old girl, that and keeping my pc finely tuned so i can keep up.

Enjoy the new machine man thumbsup

Lucky you!!

Actually I curse WT for NOT giving me an excuse to upgrade my rig. I have a trusty old ASUS G75V laptop, Core i7 2.4, 8GB RAM, with a GeForce GTX670m 4GB. On high settings I get 60-90 fps even with the dirt flying.

(And I totally admit I prefer playing at medium settings so I don't get grass blocking my sniper view...)

None of the other games I spend time on require a more grunty rig either, so I'm stymied.

No excuse to upgrade for me! ;(

H

You do know you can turn off grass in sniper view, right? Under Menu -> Game Options -> Main Parameters -> Grass in tank sight = No

Appreciate it guys. Biggest difference I'm seeing is between my old AMD card and now the NVidia. Even though my "older" 7870 supposedly outclasses the 750 TI the game looks much crisper and sharper than before.

Like a whole new experience.
