The US women's soccer team is currently doing to Japan what the German men's team did to Brazil last year. 50cal

The emoji most appropriate to describe what's going on apparently does not exist due to this being a family friendly site. smile

I just saw 4-0 and assumed that was the final score. Then clicked the link and saw there was still 69 minutes to play smile

In hindsight, England might have done well by losing the semi final in very unfortunate circumstances and then picking up the third place medals, finishing on a high. Especially considering it was the first time they'd ever beaten those particular opponents wink

"Those particular opponents" need a new coach (badly), and the older players need to retire to make room for the next, much more talented generation. smile

USA beats Germany?

Then Japan?

Sounds familiar...

This weekend is brought to you by the letters U, S, and A. Great game, the respect they showed towards the Japanese team was very very high class, and after 16 years, the cup is coming back to its rightful home!

Congrats to the USA and England and Canada all three teams really played well and beat expectations in this tournament, great hat trick from Lloyd in this game.

Overall it was a very enjoyable tournament to watch with lots of exciting close games, some great players working really hard and without the acting and diving of the men's game thumbsup

I'll be watching more women's soccer in the future if this is how they play.

Was there any mention in the coverage of the state of the
environment around the stadium in Vancouver? It has been a
very surreal day, with immense clouds of smoke funnelling
down into the city from forest fires which have been starting
all over the province after the totally unprecedented weeks
of dry hot weather at least 10C above normal, and no rain.
The city has looked like a sepiatone photograph all day,
and it smells like you're 50ft from a bonfire wherever you
go. One website described it as "martian skies".

The stadium today:

and the look of the city:

It's even worse a bit further north or west. Here's thirty miles north,
at noon:
