Well done, sir! You had one smoking badly at first. Did you ever discover where he went? The last one, you blew him out of his shoes! I've seen this happen a few times now, most notably with RAF_Lou's great vid. 'Wonder what it is with Albatri that the fuselage heads for the ground leaving the wings behind? (Great color, by the way.)
In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. But in practice, there is.
If you are asking about the candy cane Albatros, he went down when my squad-mate ran into him, claiming the victory... that's why I was so "energetic" in going after the other guy!
The older I get, the more I realize I don't need to be Han, Luke or Leia. I'm just happy to be rebel scum...

Yeah, he was candy-caned, wasn't he? Serves him right for drawing attention to himself. Your squadron mate who cut you off suddenly was belching black smoke, which abruptly stopped. Any notion of what could cause that? (At first I thought a broken oil line and the engine ate itself, but those were all 2-cycle rotaries.)

He ran into the Albatros, it was a light collision (you can hear it at about 3:02) it was enough to send my guy home out of the fight and the Albatros down for good. (And a stolen kill from me! )

OK then, it's two big helpings of "Serves him right!" But what might have accounted for the fire/smoke?

So. Set off on a recon flight to observe troop movements today with everyone in the N11 Bebe...except me! I was rocking strong in an N10... We got out over the lines when "the boys" spotted some kind of enemy two-seater. They went tearing off without me and had downed him before I ever got close enough to I.D. him. Turns out, he was escorted by a lone Eindecker who was very interested in me. Of course, my squad-mates were very interested in him so we began this aerial ballet where I tried not to get shot or rammed while getting off shots at the enemy where I could. Through clenched teeth, I waited for the inevitable outcome with so many planes packed in such a small space of sky...
...but not to me, this time!
Oddly enough, Charles made it out of it only lightly wounded!

Well, here we are again, with similar results... I have included the landing so MudWasp can file it under my "Hot Landings" series (not to be confused with the Allman Brothers' "Hot 'Lanta" series)...
So, I have no idea where my bullets were going... was I missing? Was it a bug? What are your thoughts, gentle readers? (viewers)

I got lazy and stupid and set autopilot and 4x time compression while still flying low over German territory after a successful airfield raid. A lone Alb DII bounced me and did some good damage to both me and my engine. Before I can get my wits together, he has gotten into position and makes another pass a me with his Spandau's finding the mark an uncomfortably high number of times. After an aggressive maneuver I manage to turn the tables on him and start to hammer away with my single gun. I score some hits but truth be told, an archie burst hit right next to his plane and suddenly he pitches downward slightly and is trailing smoke. Victory!
Not so fast...because immediately after that, my engine gives out and I can see that he is still flying. In a split second of terror, I make a desperate low altitude move without power to try to get back into firing position again and take out the Bosche before he can come around and finish off my own, now utterly helpless craft. If I have to crash land, I will at least try to make sure that I cannot be strafed by the #%&*$# who shot me down!
In the future words of Winston Churchill "Never ever, ever, ever, ever give up!" Events like these are why I absolutely love WOFF!

Nice fight! At first, when he came out of nowhere and firing accurately to boot, I thought this one was going to end badly for you. On his second pass, he was still in the saddle, but you turned it around. It must have been very satisfying having him just hang there in front of your guns while you hammered away.
But in the very last seconds of the film, when you're both down, I can still hear MG's firing. What's with that? Is his ammo cooking off in the fire?

Here's another entry into the "What Happens When A Rocket Hits A Plane" folder. The answer is... it goes down...surprisingly slowly!
Low level fight which is nerve wracking because of the Nieuport's tendency to stall out in high winds situations, which this was. Kill was not confirmed as there were no witnesses around, except for the enemy, and they know!

So slowly that I suspect he died of a heart attack. And...a yellow plane is the most visible. I'll have to take my 'golden girl' out for a run real soon. Hoch d' gelbe Flugzeug!

I've got a nice Action-Movie, here... it's got Bullets... aaand more Bullets... Oh! And even a lot of Shooting!
...with some of the Longshots I tried to scare away some EA, that were pursuing Squadmates... sadly, one has to actually hit them to change their Minds...
That was pretty awesome! A dawn fight and you took back off to mete justice to your remaining foes! Stone cold, bro! Also, you have some very enthusiastic Archie blokes back at the aerodrome!
