I'm waiting to see how this all pans out with Windows versions. I was almost the last one to give up Win98, and change to XP, which I still use, with no problems. so it will be a while yet before I move on.

I am curious about this completely free offer from MS to upgrade to Windows 10.
Just concerns me about the old adage ... 'Beware of Greeks bearing gift's'
Nothing is ever free anymore and cautious there may be a hidden agenda lurking.

ShoGun did you take up that offer and if so, how do you think Win10 stacks up to previous platforms?

If this all works out I may even dust off the cobwebs and give an oil change to the old Spit.

Is that Horizon Fog I see in the 6th screen shot down?

If so are you using D3D or Glide?

Can you get rid of the terrain shimmering in windows 10?

The game was running Direct3D set in graph menu in game, yes Horizon Fog. Terrain shimmering I think is less,
also I think shimmering is mainly in ETO summer terrain not so much in other terrains.

Have you tried any 24-bit High Rez skins? It would be nice if you can use them. They are definately prettier than the 8-bit 256 color ones.

This was at Game Ranger, Windows-10 two different PC's. 1 PC running 2 ati R7 260 graphic cards, with latest Windows-10 drivers from ati. Game running D3D only 30 FPS.




2nd PC running 2 NVidia 9800 GTX cards, with latest drivers from NVidia for windows-10. nGlide used to get fog.
Game running at 60 FPS.

There is a single EAW140 installation 7-zip file on its way to OneDrive at the moment.
All the patches have been applied, and it is named "140InstALL". This will save newbies from having to install 140 and then have to download and install the patches.

That looks great. I don't have any sims installed right now but EAW was the absolute best for me. I actually had a Mosquito campaign still active when I repalced my PC. IL-2 was long gone but EAW was still there.

I just got the new 140 single install. It was so simple, and it is working fine.

OK took the plunge and installed win 10 All works well but no mouse in EAW tried uninstalling the mouse and drivers and still no mouser...Everything else works fine also tried all the compatibility modes,,,,Any suggestions before I go back to win7

Which version of the EAW exe are you running?
The reason that I ask is thata few months ago something happened that promted me to try to add an additional copyright notice to the exe because of the extra code that the code group added.
That involved editing a file containing the copyright text, and building new exes. There were no problems until I tried it with Windows 8.1.
The mouse had disappeared, just like you describe.
Why this file should affect the mouse appearance I cannot fathom. However, rebuilding an exe with the old version of this file brought the mouse back. Since then all the exes I have made run in windows 8.1 and windows 10 with no mouse problem.
So it may be that you are running one of these strange exes.

Using your all in one recent install...But found out if I run 140rv2cdf it all works great.....I guess I can put the new planesets into that??????As long as I can run one version of EAW I'll settle for that and hope something changes down the road..I figure sooner or later I'll have to stick with win 10 and make do..

It could be the games loosing focus and usually the mouse drops out. Unfortunately I don't know how to solve that other than try to determine whats causing it, find whats taking priority/focus over the game in the background.

Does Jels 140v51 work for you and your mouse problem, thats the version just before the new all in one installer was made.

Ok using the newest one step install I've found out I loose the mouse using the new map exe ..It's ok using either one of the other two exe's.So the new map exe is out for me for now but at least I can fly!!

Getting 6 fps in d3d but 40--50 in glide ..Just checked my video driver and it's a real new one..Going to get it back to the older one I had in win 7.And I found out how to stop win 10 from updating it automaticaly...But hell glide is fine as long as it's smooth

when I fire up the game using EAW140 I get to the start screen, however half of the right side is gone..ala I have the main pic and partial writing on the right Example: pic 1 I have that screen except the lettering stops at INST and the rest is cut off on down the page, what am I doing wrong?

I have a PC with plug-in HDDs and if I use Win 7 I need to use the d3dwindower. Win 10 runs fine.
