46GB also sounded insane for such an 'empty' location.

It's still going to be a hell of a long download.

I guess DCSW 2 itself won't be nearly that big.

It's almost always the assets that are big.

Wow! The last thing I expected to hear was that 1.5 would be 2.0 without the map integration! I figured the issues with the new EXE, netcode, etc would be the things holding back the release.

I'm most looking forward to the graphics engine and the ability to fly multiple clients in the same flight.

Oh, and Wags' description of the frag damage modeling was also welcome news.

Well, ok then. I think they should've called it 2.0 anyway, regardless of NTTR being there, because there's no logic to that really, but it's just a label. It means when 2.0 comes out, if you don't have NTTR, it will be pretty much identical to 1.5.

Could've called it DCS World Super Duck for all I care, I just think from a marketing perspective it's off.

It is strange, the only thing I can figure is maybe 1.5 will be essentially "2.0 public beta" and it'll be 2.0 once they iron out any issues with it.

I suppose that is a possibility, yes.

It just seems like as of right now, using publicly released info, the only difference between 1.5 and 2.0 will be the ability to buy NTTR. So if you don't, the version number increments and nothing else happens. Seems off...

Now if some things that were originally supposed to be post-2.0, for 2.1 or whatever, are now going to be in 2.0 itself, like the mooted multicrew ability...I don't know. I mean, going from DCS A-10C to DCS World w/A-10C was only 1.1.x to 1.2.x.

I feel like we're going to have a big celebration for our 19th anniversary and then for 20th we're getting a cupcake.

In other words, IMO what comes in Sept (allegedly) should still be 2.0, and when we get NTTR and whatever else is coming they should call it 2.1. Simple.
