I'm trying my hand at an EIV campaign in Sept 1916 in Flanders. I have mission altitude set to "historical", and I'm getting extremely low altitudes assigned to my flights, 400-1200 ft, which isn't good at all when flying over the trenches. Is this working as designed? I know you can specify a higher altitude in the workshop, but I don't know if conducting operations at that altitude is historical.

I'm getting missions that range from 400 to 1300 feet or so.

How many missions in a row has this been on going on for?

I know that during one of my campaigns in December 1916-January 1917 with RNAS 8 that I had a few random extremely low altitude missions similar to yours on extremely clear days. I thought it was due to the time of year, but then I'd have missions that were normal/higher altitude. Missions also varied (for instance, it was not extremely low escort missions for me) so I couldn't find a correlation). However, it seems to disappear after a few days.

I got fired as the door man at a sperm bank.
Apparently it's in poor taste to tell leaving customers "Thanks for coming."

Well.... no need to worry about him anymore, I crashed into a fence while landing on my second mission....

I'll keep an eye out to see if it happens again

When it happened to me, I just adjusted my workshop settings to high altitude instead of historical.

Yep good old WOFF often gives you an option to help you go forward, unlike many other sims or games out there that give you a world, and that's pretty much it.
In another thread someone else said they had a low flight issue (now fixed) in Alsace they set altitude to medium.

I always lead, thus choose my own altitudes as a Staffelführer would. Does the assigned altitude have any impact on anything? I was under the impression the enemy could be anywhere.

Jim the enemy will be anywhere, it's "Player Flight Altitude" option.

That was me with the ESc Laf. I'd fly as flight leader and that kept my flight from crashing.

Trouble was 'A-Flight' still flew low over mountainous areas and either crashed into them or was shot up by enemy troops when patrolling front lines.

Setting the workshop player's flight altitude to medium allowed me to fly by rank and also kept 'A-Flight" from being wiped out on each mission.

Thanks Mudwasp, yes as A flight is usually above you, so changing your altitude will affect theirs.

Flew one mission with that squad since the 2.09 update. Reset player's altitude to 'Historical' and had no issues in higher terrain.

Thanks for the fix thumbsup
