As per the title, I'm interested in steam locomotives for TS 2015, and I'm curious what are some good DLC's. I've seen the FEF-3 and the J-50, but beyond that I'm not sure what's out there. I'd prefer locos that are as fully featured as the FEF-3 as appropriate (basically having a high degree of realism).

The FEF is a fine rendition and more fully featured than the bog standard DTG/RSC steam locos. The FEF was done by Smokebox who also did the fantastic 2-8-0 Consolidation (both are well worth getting imho). Supposedly the Steam Summer Sale is happening soon (this upcoming week?) so you might be able to get those models on sale.

The Challenger and Big Boy are good models but are older in the sense of release dates and so do not have the more fleshed out features the Smokebox locos have. There are several other steam locos that pre-date Trainsimulator (when the sim was still being called Railworks) but were 'refurbished' graphically (not refurbished in features tho) that are worth looking at when on sale to flesh out the steam loco fleet

I honestly haven't paid much attention to UK steam loco offerings in the last while so can't speak to them.

Just Trains' Clan is a very good simulation, as is their 4MT. With those locos you have to clean out the smokebox and fill the sander boxes before moving off.

Then there is Steam Sounds Supreme that do lovely enhancements for many of DTG's kettles and also they do further enhancements for the JT's Clan and 4MT, it is an art to keeping the Class 6 Clan in steam and moving

It is well worth while checking out the videos on the SSS website, for British diesel Armstrong Powerhouse do some good enhancement packs, ranging from just a more realistic sound to enhanced controls etc.

Digital Traction also do some great work on steam locomotives and a lot of time they work hand in hand with SSS to bring a very good simulation to you
