I have high hopes for this to be awesome, The old SW BF games were pretty fun but I didn't care for the locations. If it has Jar Jar in it should be pure gold..... or is that the other way around?

I've got a bad feeling about this.....

The first three films were awesome, the following trilogy that came along had none of the charisma of the originals... the only thing they had going for them was the great CGI.
If this Battlefront sticks to the original character types with decent locations I'll get it... if they deviate towards the newer film stuff I certainly wont bother.

Any words on whether it will have a Space Combat mode as did SWBF2? X-Wing quality it was not, but it was better than nothing for flying X-Wings in space.

No single player, I think there will be coop missions you can play with your friends and multiplayer that's it. Fine by me, I sink most of my time into the multiplayer in Battlefield games anyways.

No space combat either, they made some claim that they thought about it and realized there wasn't enough gameplay there. My take is they wanted to do it, there just isn't enough dev time to flesh it out and make it what everyone wants. This game is on a strict deadline, and I'm sure the release will be a mess to get black friday sales and the Starwars movie release as well.

Considering that (a) there were a whole generation of famous single player DOS games devoted to nothing BUT space combat and (b) the space battles in Battlefront II were the only reason I bought that game (or bothered to play it after I bought it), I am tempted to suggest they did not think about it very hard. Here is hoping it makes it back in in an expansion or sequel.

Of course, the naval combat was always my favorite part of BF1942, and they never brought that back into any of the other BFs (despite the thematic opportunity with BF4's naval add-on).

Well, if someone was to make an up to date modern version of X-Wing v Tie Fighter, or X-Wing Alliance I would grab it in an instant smile

I agree completely.

And I'd love an updated version of Dark Forces or Jedi Knight while they're at it.

I think that this premise is pure stupidity. Like a video promo from The Onion. And,I predict that almost nobody who has a high-end PC is going to buy this. But I guess consoles is where the money is at these days. And it IS the product of DICE LA after all. Great follow-on to the flop HardLine. Not!

I think you're going to be unpleasantly surprised. Battlefield + Star Wars is an easy sell. Not sure why the premise is stupid, it's the third game in a popular series.

The premise that Space Combat was not worth the effort, or the premise of a Battlefield-style Star Wars game?
