Thx for sharing, beautiful. Can't wait to get hold of this one.
Cheers, Slug

can you sail it "from the deck" so to speak? I've always wanted to play being a captain standing on the quaterdeck

You can zoom in and steer 'from the deck' and aiming the cannons is done from a "1st person view" too. Many people on the forums have also asked for more fixed viewpoints on the decks of ships for a more immersive experience, and I'm sure this is something the devs will work on in the future. Their interaction with the community so far has been simply astonishing. The sailing in open world in the current alpha feels a bit simplified due to the high speeds resulting from the time compression, the "real" sailing ATM can only be done in the engagements, which are instanced. I'm pretty sure as the game progresses it will offer some way to simply learn/practice the sailing maneuvers. Some people are unhappy with the way traveling is done in open world. Due to the huge map the devs have chosen to use a constant time compression system. After a couple of hours I've actually started to like this system. The alternative would be to drastically compress the map which would lead to a host of other problems. Aruba, Jamaica, ooh I want to take ya, Bermuda, Bahama, come on pretty mama...

The devs mentioned they want to implement trading and (probably) crafting before they'll release the game to a broader audience. Don't expect the full game until next year.

Lots of AI in game already. Open world SP is planned, too. My new ship: HMS Cerberus, a 6th-rate frigate build in 1758 And she is a real beauty! A tad undergunned maybe but still packs a decent punch Great for exploring the Caribbean Somehow I have this feeling the Spanish are kinda mad at me...
