That would be a hacked 1.2exe. There were several hacked exe's put out, which were made using a Hex Editor. I made one, which only loaded HR terrain tiles. A lot of these hacks went into VBH's FXEXE! We went down the code route, and abandonded Hex Editing. You have no idea what's in the FXEXE Col., since I stopped sharing information after I confidentially told you I had found the tile entries in the EXE around 2003. The story can be read in the EAW archives from that year. Fortunately Mark has a much better picture of things as he's doing some beta testing with it. Von Beerhofen

For goodness sake!! This banter has been going on for numerous years now ... Why do we just not let it play out? Do we really need to call in moderators, some of whom at the drop of a hat shut down an un-ended conversation because the particular argument appears to get a little heated? Are we not allowed to have difference of opinion? Personally, if I were a moderator, I would leave this conversation between Col.Gib and VB progress. Reasoning... Let them have their say. If they tend to be a little derogatory towards each other that is between them, however, if it projected to other members of this community then by all means ... moderate as it should be. These men are old enough and wise enough. If they fail to keep within themselves, then their arguments will never have a resolution within this media. Within this community, I am fairly confident we have put up with worse than this in our every day life happenings ... I feel the only way this thread will stop would be from others contributing of which have no idea what it is all about, or, when it started. Let them have their say collectively. Never know, they may end up friends again ... Always worth a try

Well I will butt in, but I am not looking for an argument Knegel apparently used the LDRs I think they where called, scripts/directions for the VBHexy program to patch most any eaw.exe There is a factual error in Mark's post re- LDRs. In the days when VBH and I could work together there was some good teamwork. He was building Pacific Tide III and in order to do it I started work on the target editor. Feedback from him helped me improve it. At the same time VBH had a made a good map of the 1.2 exe, which enabled him to modify the occasional byte, or even whole sections. He needed a utility to do this and we came up with the LDR system. I made the "VBHexy" utility, and he made the LDRs. The utility read a script which contained the locations of the bytes which needed to be modified, and the new values which were to be placed there. It also made a copy of the original bytes so that the process could be reversed. It was a neat way of hacking the 1.2 exe. It could not be reliably used on exes which did not have the same structure as the 1.2 exe. Using the code I wrote for this utility I was able too put it into OAW, allowing LDRs to be loaded and unloaded by the OAW selector. Ralf was not involved in any of this Jel
