DCS combined Arms
What can I say about this game,
Well,Steel beasts it sure as hell isn't, But that's not to say it hasn't got some good features namely the ability to call in human controlled CAS. In My former SB,VU we experimented with the combined Arms concept a few guys would run the ground units while some Would Control the A-10/SU-25 Hueys/and KA-50/Mi8. If CA had half the fidelity SB has I would still be playing it
In Fairness to ED they do not market CA as a high fidelity sim, it does add a extra element to DCS world.
And for a long time I hoped ED Would invest more time/money and gradually turn a game in to a proper armour sim after two years not Much sign of that happening. they did improve some of the fighting vehicles fire control systems but its still lacking any real level Of fidelity, its fun as hell in MP mode not so much fun in SB though
There was a rumour they were building a high fidelity M1A2 SEP but nothing had been officially announced or even leaked about it
You Can pick it up fairly cheap at the moment for five bucks/euro its worth that if your looking for a fun not to realistic tank Game
Note I said Game not sim if its a sim your looking for then SB is the one I would recommend.

link to a VU playing CA.
Not to many DCS servers will run CA games and as far as I know there's only one dedicated VU playing it.

CA always struck me as just 'not close enough' to make it not worth it. It's too bad because I think it wouldn't take much to turn it into an interesting tactical wargame. Not Steel Beasts level armor simulation, but something like Battle Command. But as it is, it's just a bit too crummy. Too many things are simplistic or not modelled at all. Aside from the FAC, it may also be interesting to have someone play the OPFOR.

I've had it for a while though so I'm ready when they blow the roof off it. biggrin

The Hollo Pointe server runs DCS World missions that can be won with Combined Arms. The level of detail down on the ground is extensive. Sounds abound and are quite effective on the battlefield. Keep a line of sight and bring your units forward. Control a/c and artillery for a great advantage over the enemy. ready
