Hi

I am looking for parts for a Saitek X45, specifically pots and the gimbals and mountings for them. There is someone selling a load of these on eBay but the shipping is a bit steep.

If anyone has an old, broken, X45 clogging up a corner I will buy it, or the parts, from you. Ideally this would be from a UK source to keep the cost of postage down.

This is for a project where I have been slowly modding my X45 into a heli flight stick for some time. I would like to create an internal gearing system to take account of the smaller movements at the base with the longer stick but I don't want to risk screwing up the stick, which is currently working pretty well, in the process.

Cheers!

Tango.

Hi

Thanks for that.

Unfortunately, I don't understand Russian and my knowledge of the Cyrillic alphabet is very limited.

I actually had a brainwave that I can probably do what I need with a sheet of 2mm acrylic and a pillar drill. I'll give that a go and return to plan A if that doesn't work out :-)

Tango.

If you aim is build a new helicopter joystick using the X-45 grip, you dont need use only Saitek X-45 gimbal and pots,
you can use for other stick brand, example a gimbal from CH Flighstick (durable and with good quality - better than Saitek - pot's), those are more easy to find in eBay.

I'm not starting from scratch, I've adapted the X45 by lengthening the shaft and adding some more powerful springs to centre it.

The problem is that the range of motion is much smaller with the longer stick. I've been compensating for this by increasing the sensitivity in-game but that also amplifies the noise so it's a bit like going back to a gameport stick.

The solution I'm looking at is putting a gear around the the gimbal shaft, moving the pot so that its shaft pokes through the mount to like up with the gear on the gimbal, and putting a smaller gear on the end. I can then lower the sensitivity in-game and reduce the nose.

To do this in going to have to chop the transparent mounting around quite a bit and drill some holes. I just want a spare one in case I cock it up.
