I love IL2 and still fly the occasional mission or QMB. Nothing and I mean NOTHING gets me in the fight like IL2 1946. Add in some badass Ai and some juicy plane sets and you can go virtualy anywhere from 1930 to Vietnam and beyond. But the strength of this game for me is the multi bogey engagement. Nothing in my opinion comes close to feeling the heat of being hunted while twisting and turning and watching six!

You aren't the only one who has saved old pics, but most people would have got rid of IL2 pics by now... it's only the few die hards that keep the memory going.
THIS IS BLASPHEMY SIR! GET RID OF il2 PICS? PURE AND UNADULTERATED BLASPHEMY I SAY!!!!! THOSE INDIVIDUALS SHOULD BE COURT-MARSHALED AND PUT IN FRONT OF A FIRING SQUAD!!! COMPLETE BLASPHEMY!!!! +1000, even with somewhat dated graphics and a fairly easy flight model, IL2 1946 is still the one to beat for overall content and immersion. CLOD equals IL2 1946 for BOB content, but overall is left in the dust by IL2 1946 because of all the other Theaters she models. If 1C/Maddox games would have just finished CLOD and then added BOM we would be having quite a different conversation, but with BOS/BOM taking 1 step forward and 2 steps back(have you seen the latest graphic bubble debacle? Even the Fanbois are calling out 1C/777 on this one.) the real IL2 Successor looks to be CLOD TF5.0 when it gets here. I have great hopes for DCS WWII: Europe 1944, but it will be years before that is fleshed out, although I am quite patient and ABSOLUTELY LOVE what they have done so far. By the looks of the DCS2.0 sneak peaks, it seems that DCS World is poised to take the lead in the Flight Sim Genre. Here Kitty, Kitty, Kitty, can't wait for the Kitty Hawk(bought in early, just waiting on delivery ) Trooper, Love the DO17 pic especially and all the rest. I wish you would share some of those old missions or Campaigns you made. It looks like you did an excellent job producing them. Here are a few more pics. S!Blade<><

I wonder how many chaps these wonderful screen shots have inspired to fire up the Old Girl again? I 'fly' regularly on the S.A.S. server and have noticed some new names there. Hyperlobby still seems to peak at over 100 now.
Thanks for taking the time to post these gents!

Someone has to... if you go on the BoS forums, there are younger members there that think that they have the 'successor' to IL2, which is so far from the truth it's unbelievable. They have no conception of the impact of the original, and just how it changed the genre. I will continue to keep the 'real legend' alive
