Yipes. It seems the 7050 uses 256MB of main
bus RAM, it has no onboard memory. 256MB is,
umm, kinda respectable for a 2004 vintage vid
card, if it's on-board. 256MB shared is just
grim. Well, on one hand I'm not too surprised;
nVidia has for a long time used a numbering
system where the second digit represents the
performance class, and this one with that system
rates 0.
So, look at spending something over $75 dollars for
a gamer discrete video card, and get something
in the top ten or twelve tiers of the Tom's
hierarchy chart here
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-graphics-card-review,3107-7.html rather than one which places fourth from the bottom
(out of 37 levels, which include cards going back
to 2002, most of which are higher on that chart).
Check to make sure your computer's power supply has
enough wattage to drive the card. It will require
upgrading if it's under ~350W, another ~$50 cost.
