Thanks I will give that AA setting a shot.
Via Nvidia Inspector I will presume? Lucky I got it ready to go.
And those new shaders must really be kick arse!

You have good eyes smile
This version replaces hangar (and other airfield, factory and unique buildings) shadows with the same ones I already use for city buildings and trees. Ground shadows for aircrafts and trucks are still the same as before.
And you are right - new shadows are less sharp than older ones, but have several advantages: they are visible from larger distance, don't disappear at low sun angles, and properly shade other objects and not just ground.

Anyway, there will be a very simple way to revert to the original building shadows if anyone dislikes new ones.

Nothing wrong with the current cloud shadows sir and they look good.
It's just that (and I realize a lot of computer graphic settings determine this plus the CFS3 engine) that sometimes they are not as "distinctive and colored" as they can be in "real life" based on my flight time.
Not a complaint just an observation as I really like them.
Please don't take that the wrong way as I am very appreciative of your work.

Thanks for the reply Ankor. The 'sunny day' shadows from the plane and truck looked a bit odd next to the 'cloudy day' shadows from the buildings. However the advantages with your new shadows are obvious.

DukeIronHand,
Ah, I see. In fact I also think cloud shadows should be darker.
I'm still going to check cloud shadows in this new version. I don't exactly plan to make them darker though, but I at least need to make sure they are not going to look worse than before.

PS: Make sure you have set "Cloud Shadow Density" to 10 in workshops, that option controls their darkness and the default is 8.

RedToo, good point about sun/cloudy day difference. I doubt I can do anything about it for this version, but intentionally blurring shadows on cloudy days is an interesting idea.

Thank you.

Thanks to Ankor, I got my SweetFX working again. Here's a series of screenshots from a campaign mission using my SweetFX settings.

I only use the Lift Gamma Gain in SweetFx to adjust the luminance which appears to sharpen the image.

Don't know, but it looks to me that the ground is too dark for such a sunny day.

Yep. When I did use SFX yours were the settings I liked the best OldHat.
The rest seemed to make everything overly and artificially dark - and that was when my monitor settings were out of whack with the brightness too high.
I shudder to think of how it would look now that I am "properly calibrated."

Is there a calibration guide around somewhere?

Hellshade, BJM posted the link in the other thread about SFX. And I posted the settings of my current ICC profile.
Their are plenty of calibration guides around, and I used them, with very minor success, but the color profile was the ticket.

EDIT: Posting by cellphone is tough with old eyes. Spelling fixed.

Love your screenies Hellshade - I prefer the non-sweetfx ones though with AnKors latest dll. With Sweetfx it looks very dark on the ground.

Ankor,
I just posted some screenshots in the "Reports from the Front" thread that show your cloud shadows well.
In looking at them I am starting to feel your shadows may be fine and the terrain might be a little dark when in the sunshine though it was at dawn.
I will try to pay more attention in the future. With every flight being different (time of day, weather, etc) things change quite a bit and it may be tough to nail down a definitive answer one way or the other.

EDIT: Now that I have given it a few minutes and gone back and looked again at the screenshots I am not convinced there is a problem at all. All things considered they look pretty good.
Probably the constantly changing light situation in the game and not your stuff at all perhaps.
Keep up the good work!
