I am downloading Windows 10 and will install it on my Windows 8 drive (I don't mind losing that because I don't like it at all). Once I get it to work I will install WOFF and see what happens Sorry just realised this should be in the Technical forum.

I am not replacing my W7 installation, but going to use a separate drive for W10 - that is if I can ever get the 3.5 Gb iso file to download!

Is this the preview Jim? If so may be differences from the release version.
Yes it is the preview but it will be automatically updated as things go on. That is if you can believe what Micro$oft say. As they are always liars we shall have to see. But installed on a spare drive I have nothing much to lose (except my temper). Still downloading at this moment, 3.5 Gb is not easy with my slow ADSL line.

That is why it goes on a second hard drive for those who dare. I don't see a reason yet, but will try to keep up with what the world considers advances. Not into all that facebook stuff or ... all things sincked together in cyber space. With a dual boot, Jim will be my guinea pig. Thanks Jim, I owe you one

Update so far. It took a loooong time to download 3.5 Gb as my ADSL line is only 1 Mbit and rarely runs that fast. And then there was a power cut (called 'load shedding') for 4 hours. Anyway I have my pooter set to dual boot W7/W10. One interesting thing is when I tried to install my Gigabyte drivers from the installation CD the installer refused to run stating that it would not work on Windoze ME of all things!! Now downloading AMD 15.4 drivers - just to make sure I am downloading the W7 and W8.1 versions. These seem to be beta versions obtainable from here: http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/latest-catalyst-windows-beta.aspx I think this is going to be a long haul .....

I have 3 x 320Gb drives plus a mirrored 80Gb drive (which is two old IDE drives). I don't like booting from partitions much so have one OS = one drive. At the moment I have W7 64 ultimate and W10 - which is where this message is coming from. The video and sound works in W10 but for some unknown reason the CD drive has gone. It is still there in W7! This caused trouble with the install of WOFF which wants the CSF3 CD. I did a bit of an install of CSF3 in W7 then crashed it and went bach to W10 and used the csf3.exe on the W7 drive. I am now up to WOFF V2.05 with Directx 9 etc. All my pilots and settings have been restored using the backup restore tool (a great thing). TrackIr 5.0 seems to work ok as well. The only problem I have is that when running WOFF the bottom taskbar is still visible. Maybe that is a setting somewhere... (yes it is - "auto hide" as usual)
I must say that I prefer W10 to W8.1 which has been discarded. It feels a lot more like W7 which is good.
One problem I have is with EasyBCD which is on the W7 drive. W10 is on the menu but won't start - it gives some message about unsigned files - normal Micro$oft rubbish which even they don't understand. So... I am going to try to install EasyBCD on the W10 drive and see if the dual boot works from there. Otherwise I have to press F12 on bootup to select the correct hard drive.
Altogether I am quite impressed and will carry on using W10 as much as poss. The missing CD device is a bit funny though as it is there in the BIOS and in W7.

It seemed to load past the doggy quicker. The only way I will be able to tell is to run a QC of the same sortie under W7 and W10. Will let you know. I only installed W10 because I had W8.1 (upgrade from 8.0) and didn't like it at all. If given a choice between W7 and W8 I would say stick with W7 unless you are very even-tempered As for improvements I must say that the W8/10 task manager is a great improvement on the W2000/XP/W7 one, especially in the performance window. You can now see prezackly how fast (or slow) your comms are running. And when you delete a file you don't have to confirm the deletion. This is unusual as all previous versions of windoze had this. Personally I always disliked having to confirm a delete as in real Operating Systems this is not required.

Hi Jim
I've been lurking here for some time and want to say I'm quite interested in your testing. I currently have a triple boot system and will probably tackle Win 10 some time in future when time permits. Lately I only have time for keeping up with the WOFF forums and my DiD campaign.
Cheers!

Beware W10 guys,Microsoft want to make it the "only" OS on your machine and it will be tied to hardware (MB) so to prevent multiple OS booting. There has been big rumours about that, because that cuts off all the rest (Linux etc..etc..) as always Microsoft tries to force things its own way! W8 was a failure like all the stuff between XP and 7,10 will probably spoil your PC experience as well,my two cents. Here but there are other reports on the matter.

I disconnect the not used OS drive and then boot from only the one I need. I can't see any way that Microsoft can stop me doing that. So I am not 'dual booting' but 'single booting'.
