Hi,

Just purchased WOFF. So I thoughtI would introduce myself as I have been lurking here for sometime.

I am Ex-RAF Officer, Ex-Police Officer but current flight simmer!

Very impressed with WOFF, very much more alive than ROF in my opinion which I found a bit sterile.

I expect I will be asking questions and seeking advice in the very near future!

Welcome, Cromwell!

There's a good bunch of people here who will no doubt be chiming in.

My advice: Take it slow. WOFF can be a bit unforgiving, even with some of the aids up. You also might want to consider a head-motion tracker like Track IR if you don't have one. It allows you to use your head to control the camera. If money's an issue, FaceTrackNoir is a free alternative.

Good luck, and ask away!

Welcome aboard and as all the old fogies around here say, 'The new guy buys the drinks'. I second everything CatKnight said, if you can get some kind of tracker then your enjoyment will increase dramatically.

Guess after all of the above all I can say is "Difto" especially the TrackIR part.

Welcome to the WOFF skies and the virtual front cCromwell, always good to see new blood coming to the this wonderful sim. You are in for quite the ride, and if you're like the rest of us here you'll be hopelessly but blissfully lost to it all in short order. Also, as has been so rightly noted already, new lads buy the drinks. BARKEEP! Start a tab for this fine fellow and put a pinta' red and two fingers of Laphroaig 25 on it as a starter.

cheers

Thanks for the very warm welcome from everyone!
I will definatly be investing in TrackIr.

As for the drinks, my pilot agreed to settle up when he returned from his navigational training flight yesterday.

Unfortuantly on the return trip his BE suffered an oil reserve failure and the engine conked out. Whilst valiantly attempting a dead stick landing in an inviting looking meadow his undercarriage clipped the top of the boundary trees plunging the aircraft into the ground and thereby causing the demise of my trainee aviator.

Upon reciept of this news the Mess Manager looked into his affairs and found he had insufficient funds to cover the ordered drinks, also he discovered that his own mess bill had not been paid since his arrival!

To save adding to his next of kins grief with an embarresing letter asking for money it would be much appreciated if you guys could between you stump up £5 3 shillings and 6 pence to settle the matter! cheers

You may find that by auctioning his rather interesting collection of Victorian Pornography that sufficient funds will be raised. hahaha

Welcome to another ex-RAF type. I think that makes three of us that I know of now .... Please consider joining in the DiD (dead is dead) campaign as it is just getting really interesting in mid-1917. It doesn't really matter if your pilot goes west, you just take on another and keep going... You can also switch nationalities if you like...

Welcome to the front cCromwell! Let's hope you raise those mess funds. £5/3/6? That's 402 pints of beer at average 1917 prices! No wonder your first pilot crashed.

Only 402 pints? Are we off our beam, or what? Who's on the wagon, now, 'fess up!
