Hehe, I am close to that bandwagon, it is mainly a few of my favorite payware not running there (Flight1 B200) or having to be repurchased (PMDG) that is keeping me away for now, hopefully those things will sort themselves out eventually.

I was moving in that (P3D) direction as well, but I opted instead for the STEAM version for now, simply for online compatibility.

How much of that airbus flight deck does what its supposed to, or is it all looks and no real function?

The only TRUE Stealth crowd funded game.

Devs said there was stuff there, but you just couldn't see it.

Well, I'm not sure but I think it's more than 90%. All the checklists are as real life with all the procedures included. This is not a "lite" version like we have in other airliners.

I have been flying the Aerosoft A320 and 319 for a long time now and it's the only airliner I use.
It's a steep learning curve but once learned it's very easy to fly without the checklists as long as you have a decent memory!
Flying without checklists is wrong but I find I just don't need them and I don't use the co-pilot voice nags either.
Your best bet is to create one shortish flight and do it over and over until it's right and you are used to all the procedures then try different routes.
You don't create a flight within FSX. It's all done onboard the plane.
I always go 'cold and dark' startup right through to landing but I always do a full ILS landing simply because it's easier.
I recommend watching this video on Youtube which is a great way of getting the basics.
