This is a work in progress, early access version of the upcoming game from Codemasters called DiRT Rally... I've kinda given up on Codemaster's after DiRT3, but I read that "this is the game our fans have wanted"; and I heard it was more sim then ever before... now I don't know if that's true, never drove a real rally car, never really ever played a respectable sim of rally cars... but I have seen one of TV. wink

Based on past version, my first, uneducated opinion.. yes, this is more sim then ever before... why, because it was hard, narrow, and in real life I would of died 5 times on this first and only stage I've ever done.

BTW, I was using a game pad... sue me, One day I'll try it with my wheel, but dirt/rally games never seem made for a wheel... or visa versa most likely.

You start w/ 50k to buy your first car, and of course it's one of the 1960 models... to make you go up through the years and levels.

Why aren't you using the pace notes? the co-driver gives you all the info you need.

That's a bug, from what I'm reading. I've seen videos with the co-driver calling the turns.

Yeah night rally racing is a whole new ballgame. Out of the box for an alpha/beta release, the night visuals are excellent.

Concur on co-driver. No audio or map for assistance, yet, despite menu options turned on.

(Sorry, triple screens. Large resolutions compressed for the forums.)

Mag, is that an animal that comes onto the road at around 3.27?

Does it have stages, with limited time for repairs before the next one? I liked that in the old Colin Mcrae games. You had to prioritize if you had a lot of damage and could only fix what you had to and had time for.

Apparently only north americans had the problem. Some files missing in your version.

Yes, you have 30 mins of free time to repair and 30mins of time that will penalize your run if you use it.

Question to those that have it.....

is it worth the 22.50 or $$$ equivalent in its current guise?

Edit...: I just read and saw it is PC only. Grrrr.

There is an incomplete car list on their site.

The game is worth the price in it's current state, even if it's not, it's going to increase in price as they add content much like ArmA 3 did, so it's worth picking up now even if you don't want to play it until it's complete.

It's PC only NOW because it's early access, it will come to PS4 and Xbox one when it's finished.

where you get that info, because I read from Codemasters PC only... to make it more of what the gamers want...more sim.

I don't see how it being on PC makes it more sim. But their actual quote is "console evntually" here is what they had to say

"For now, were focused on Early Access. Its really important to us that we make Dirt Rally the best game it can be and we can only do that with your help. Steam Early Access is the perfect place for us to do that. We believe that Dirt Rally is the game many of our fans want and right now, our plan is to develop Dirt Rally with community feedback and get that experience absolutely right. Once we have done that, if there is sufficient demand for the Dirt Rally experience on consoles, then of course well consider that."

and

"If Im brutally honest I think people will feel that its slightly unfair that were not allowing it on to console just yet, but Im set on putting this out on console eventually. I think that its right, at this early stage, is to package it and tweak it and introduce those things that fans will be asking for that we dont know they want yet."

So basically, it's early access, consoles don't have an early access platform for continual updates like Steam does, so for now it's PC only.

Cannot find the damn car list anywhere on his page, but sometimes I cannot find water in the ocean either.

BTW, is possible to select the stage you want and then change the time of day and the weather? Those Wales roads at night within a sotrm can be amazing!!

Last one is Group B

Really enjoying the game, hope they add long tracks before calling it done.

I just went back and played Dirt 3 for the first time in a while to see how different Dirt Rally really is because I wasn't sure that it was as simmy as people are saying, but holy cow you can literally full throttle through 90% of the track in that game even with every assist off.
