If we do have one, Sandy has not listed it. The late one has a radial engine, like the one in this famous Kamakarzi attack on the Essex photograph, which is easy to make, but the early version for Midway looks more like a Japanese Stuka.

Please send him my regards, and tell him his creations are still in use! And that one day soon we will get CAW, which he started, finished smile

This 24-bit LoRez skin is for 1.29 and 1.4. There is also an 8-bit Glide compatable version.

Magic!

cheers

Thanks to Ray and Mike!

I'm still working my way round the new Midway/Wake theatre. I will shortly have to gather all the new planes you guys have worked on. Such a great addition. Can we put all the new planes in one place on the Coders server, or at TallyHo, whichever is easier?

You're welcome, Peter.

Mike, that PBY looks great. So does the Vindicator but I've been looking at that one for about two months so the thrill is gone.

I learned quite a bit about the Glide problem working on these two models. Turns out some of our major assumptions were wrong. I still don't have a clue as to WHY the reverse elements happen but I'm pretty certain I can FIX them.

I'm putting together a hi-res Pete right now. Just needs a few rough edges taken care of.

If you guys will put Glide problem models in my "Gilde to be fixed" folder at the GEN, I'll work on them as time allows.

These planes are simply beautiful.

The floatplanes needed for the main fleets are Pete, Jake, Dave and Rufe.

I read that the performance of the Rufe was not a great deal less than that of the Zero, and was certainly competitive to the Wildcat.

The Seaplanes are Emily and Mavis.

Just a query: though presumably these planes will take off from bases designated as seaplane bases (invisible level air field) are they able to land on any water? Haven't done the experimentation myself to see.

Yes, but you should try SPAW140 planeset18 with the latest 140 patch applied smile
It has a Catalina, a Spit floatplane, a Rufe, a Jake and a Pete.
The appropriate airfields have been "corrected" and the flight data files have been set appropriately.

Shortly you'll have a hi-res model for the Rufe, Jake and Pete. I took a quick look at the Dave and I think the Pete would make a good base for it.

However, I haven't looked into the Emily or Mavis yet. i might be able to use the same build sequence that I used for the PBY. That is, enhance the lo-res model and then break it up into sections. it would be a lot faster than building from scratch.

If you can, there's no hurry Ray.

When I've got the theatre working okay, including the layout at Wake, I'm going to return to the ships. Three Japanese carrier types, and then the other capital ships to do.

Jel, I can see you are subtly pointing me at 1.4 smile

It is just that there is a good working set-up for the floatplanes in Planeset18, so you can see how they really work, and the differences between pure floatplanes and amphibians. Several of the planes you want are included, and I will be updating the skins as we get them from Ray and Mike, making this a useful test-bed for the aircraft whilst you continue with CAW and Midway smile
