I've wished for a Total War Warhammer game for years, really looking forward to this

Not my cup of tea.

A big draw for me with the Total War series has always been the historical eras, settings and units in the games. I've always been a big military history buff so hence the attraction.

Same here, TW has always been a historical interest, otherwise it's just some RTS with lots of units.

Never liked Warhammer either, just a bunch of "No, THIS is bigger and better. No, THIS is bigger and better" biggrin

Not to poop on the parade though, I still hope it does well!

I'm getting this! I hope they make Total war warhammer 40K. Total war is just fantasy anyway with all the sprinting troops and the super agile siege weapons. At least now it will be done with proper over the top carnage.

Heh, you make some good points but to be fair, the units act a lot more realistically in TW: Attila. Soldiers get fatigued much quicker and siege units take a long time to move on the battlefield.

Good to hear that Attila is a bit more realistic! I still play the darthmodded empire, it's good fun but takes an aweful amount of time I do no longer have.

I don't see this as an end to their more historically based games and Warhammer is more than just about "mine is bigger, no mine is" kind of gameplay. The Total War series is critically acclaimed but its a niche within a small niche so if a partnership with Games Workshop/Warhammer can bring in more sales and that helps them stay in business longer then its good for everyone, even more so if it attracts more players to the Total War style of RTS and then they look at other titles in the series.

That's a good point. Creative Assembly is one of my top favorite developers and I want them to stick around for a long time.

No, I actually think it's a great move*, but I really do understand if someone is not into it.
Plus the WarHammer and Lord of the Rings mods for Medieval Total War 2 are like the most downloaded ever on ModDB.

Personally I've always been into the tabletop game so I could even consider it- If I didn't have a backlog of games that could last me a lifetime or two already!

*People who will only buy this one, and like it could theoretically also buy the previous ones and vice versa...

I have Rome 2 and Napoleon... love them. Can't see me saying the same about this one though, it just doesn't grip me.

I highly recommend Shogun 2 if you have the slightest interest in feudal Japan.

Will definitely be skipping this one.

I am sure it is a good move for immediate profitability; whether it helps the series to continue past this, who knows, but I personally doubt it will help much.

Oh well. Total War was nice while it was (semi) historical.

+1

I know nothing of Warhammer and don't want to, will be giving this a wide berth.

I actually apologise.
Didn't mean to sound prick-lish.

It just that I kind of know you by what you write and I figured out that you mainly favor reality over fantasy.

This looks pretty cool to me. There was an old RTS Warhammer game called "Dark Omen" years ago that had similar gameplay to the Total War series but predated it by several years.

I think this could be a fun game that may or may not drag some of the players into the more historical Total War titles after they get into it a bit.

Of course mate, no problem smile Never thought you were having a go...

Yes, I do try to play things with some sense of 'reality'... (not really possible in any computer game I know, lol) but I do actually own Skyrim, and love playing it thumbsup
