100 years ago today, the ANZACs, French 1st Division of the CEO and the Lancashire Fusiliers were hitting the beaches at Gallipoli.

Lest we forget.

"You'll never take me alive" said he,
And his ghost may be heard if you pass by that billabong
"Who'll come a Waltzing Matilda with me?"

'Six before breakfast'

The six VCs awarded to men of the Lancashire Fusiliers on the morning of the landing have just been reunited in the Lancashire Fusiliers Museum in Bury, Lancashire:

Always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.

Naunton Beauchamp Worcestershi...
My wife's (maternal) grandfather a PO serving on HMS Queen Elizabeth at Gallipoli, was cox'n for a string of whalers bringing out casualties from the beaches to the hospital ships. Never spoke about it, but was haunted by it, reliving those times as he descended into dementia in his late 80's continually shouting 'Those poor boys, those poor boys!'

There was a Irish regiment sent to Gallipoli .
They were decimated like the ANZAC's
May all the brave souls from all sides rest in peace.
